I would reset the CMOS. This is done by removing that CMOS battery. Also, find the jumper that says "J-21" and move it to the alternative position. The jumper is located on the motherboard. Boot up without that battery in , and choose "Reset" that should clear out the junk. Also, replace the battery. Go to and look for a "bios update" the DG is a value board. a huge value board and one of Intel's bummer boards. Update the firmware. Once you do that, you should be good to go.

Intel 101ggc comos checksum error

you can change BIOS battery this may be due to the fact that the battery powering the CMOS (when the computer is shut down it allows the CMOS to store information), is depleted. The CMOS battery is a small pin found on the motherboard; you can refer to the manual provided with your motherboard to change it.

CMOS load error

Hi j5recs ,

  1. If this error says cmos checksum error defaults loaded , then you can try pressing and f1 key and it should load your system.
  2. If you get this error repeatedly , it means that the battery on your motherboard needs to be replaced.
  3. This could be as a result of CMOS crash, all you need to do , is to get the motherboard to an authorized service center for Intel so that they will load the CMOS for you once again and your motherboard should work fine, if *********** board is under warranty you can even get a replacement for this one.Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.

:CMOS Checksum Bad error Hi, My system had intel c2d 2.13ghz processor and 2gb ddr2 ram to begin with. I recently added 2gb more (both are 667 mhz). Now i'm getting an error while booting which says CMOS...

Yes--most probably a memory error.
If you added memory and kept the original memory, they might not be compatible.
Try running with only the old memory.
Then try running with only the new memory.

Bet both work. But not together.

Ref GA-81PE1000L Error message on boot up

all the computer bios settings are stored even when the computer is off (like time and fsb)

these are stored due to the help of a cmos battery

when this battery finishes it gives the CMOS Checksum error Default loaded error

all you need to do is replace the cmos cell

it is a mercury cell (looks like a silver coin) and will be placed on your motherboard

it is very very cheap so go buy one and replace it and be happy

You can take out cmos battery for 5 minutes or 10 and CMOS will automatically discharges. You havent specify motherboard name to give exact instructions but what i say works for 95% of motherboard.

Boots to 'CMOSS checksum error'

CMOS checksum errors
Explanation: A checksum is computed as an error-detecting code, to protect the BIOSsettings stored in the CMOS memory. Each time the system is booted this number is recomputed and checked against the storedvalue. If they do not match, an error message is generated to tell you that the CMOSmemory contents may have been corrupted and therefore some settings may be wrong. BIOSesreact in different ways to encountering this sort of error. Some will warn the user andthen continue on with whatever settings were in the CMOS. Others will assume that thesettings that were in the CMOS were corrupted and will load default values stored in theBIOS chip "for safety reasons". The error message will indicate which yoursystem is doing.
Diagnosis: The most common cause of checksum errors in CMOS is a battery that islosing power. Viruses can also affect CMOS settings, and motherboard problems can alsoaffect the stored values.
You should make sure that all of theBIOS settings in the system are correct, by rebooting the system, going into BIOS setupand double-checking all the values (hopefully against a recent BIOS settings backup).
If you have created a backupcopy of your CMOS settings then use them to restore the settings to the correctvalues. To find the problem itself:
