Ac keeps shutting

Hi,
Remove the battery and plug in the AC adapter. If you can not power on the laptop, your AC adapter has gone bad on you and will need to be replaced.

If it will turn on with the AC adapter, place the battery while the laptop is on. See if it registers the battery as charging in the task bar. If not, there may be something wrong with the battery or the components connecting to the battery within the laptop.
Also you can below steps to check:
1) take the battery out of your laptop and the laptop charger
2) plug your laptop charger in your laptop without the battery in it,
3) Try to turn it on the normal way:
If it turns on, then your battery has gone, (Its drained and run out of use like all batteries do)
if it stays off then its a charger problem
You would want to hope its a charger problem as they are cheap and easily replaceable
Hope i helped
I guess its a charger problem because its not turning on and the laptop automatically would use the charger as a main power supply if the battery doesn't work
and oh by the way
If the battery isn't in it, your laptop will act as a pc whereas if you plug the charger in it will work, but if you take it out while the laptop is on then it will go off instantly without a successful shutdown which could mean a loss of work

Rahul

LAPTOP JUST SHUTS OFF AFTER VARIOUS PERIODS OF TIME. NO WARNING AT ALL. DOESN'T SEE LIKE A BATTERY BEING LOW AS THERE IS NO WARNING AND UNIT PLUGGED IN TO AC

It probably is overheating, and is shutting itself down, to avoid PERMANENT damage.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed-air, and give the computer a "blow-job" -- shooting compressed air everywhere into the vents, to remove a layer of dust, that has been acting as insulation, causing your computer to overheat.

When I turn on my Acer 5420 it acts like it is going to power on but then shuts down

Make sure your the computer has charged for about 10 full minutes before trying to turn on. the battery has a very short life and needs a good boost before using. if possible just keep it plugged in during use. we have that problem a lot whenever it hasnt been plugged in for a while.

Power supply problems

Hello,

the problem is from the motherboard. One problem with toshiba laptop, is that they overheat too much.

Check if the fan of your laptop is working and make sure you keep your laptop where there is ventilation, so that air can enter into the laptop.

You could also open up the laptop, clean every dust on the motherboard and also the fan and cooler.

That's the area you should concentrate your attention on and not the battery or AC adapter.

Take care.

Aspire 3680 Won't charge

Hello,

Have you tested the A/C to be charging correctly ? Have you confirmed that at the back of your laptop where you plug the power in that the pin is not bend and not missing or broken or pushed in ?

If your new battery and the old battery give you exactly the same issue, then most likely your A/C power adapter or cable OR the physical port on your laptop is broken and needs to be replaced.

Shuts down will not turn on at all

Hello,

The first thing you need to do is clean the heatsink on your laptop. The heatsink is a piece of metal that dissipates heat away from the cpu, and is cooled by the fan on your laptop. If it's overheating and shutting off, it's either a clogged heatsink, or the fan is not turning. Get a can of compressed air, or use an air compressor if you have access to one (set at 80 psi).
You need to blast air into the grill on the laptop where the hot air comes out. This will likely cause a cloud of dust to come out of the bottom of the laptop where the fan is. This is a good thing. Also, remove the battery from your laptop and plug in the power cord. If it still won't power on when plugged in (with no battery) then the laptop is likely dead. Acer will usually repair a laptop for $199 so this may be the way to go.

Let me know how you make out!

Joe .

Hello. when i plug in my hp dv5220us laptop it sounds like the fans running all cenyer lights on but power button will not turn on. same with battery

Hi,

Remove the AC power jack and then the battery. Hold down the on/off button for 30 seconds, that will drain any residual power from the laptop.

Then just plug in AC power only and try to boot the laptop up. If it boots let it load Windows and then shut it down. Remove the AC power jack and then re-insert the battery. Then try to boot the laptop up.

If it boots up you all good.

If this does not work please post back.

Good luck.
