That's a very strange problem. The typical problem with a monitor is that there is no signal, and so the screen goes into a "screen saver" mode. It sounds like it is behaving as if it were a TV. Does your computer have a TV tuner on it? Some models have this option. I'm just wondering if you might have accidentally changed something. Was it working fine up until just now?

Hello, look at this link, you should have installed the bottom driver, but take care! if you've got a LAN card as well, you might have got the MOBO one disabled in bios, so best to take out the LAN card, find out what it is and look for a driver for it, meanwhile, with it removed, install the LAN driver for the MOBO LAN port, (bottom driver on this link ) and see if it appears in your 'Network Connections' (Check in bios to see if it's been disabled, though)

Have a Dell XPS 410 with 32 OS. Want to upgrade to a 64 OS. Need info

With the 410, you will need much more RAM before having a 64 bit OS becomes useful. I assume that you have the default 2GB. In any case, all you need is to buy a x64 OS and install it.

Yes, it's the BIOS at fault here. Use an older processor (anyone as long it fits the socket will do) to run it for now.
To update the BIOS you have 2 options: 1 - install completely (drivers, programs ,all) Windows, go to Dell and download (as in Save, not Run) the BIOS update utility (it's an exe) unto your pc, boot into Safe Mode and run it. This way has the advantage that is easy but you might stumble into problems with the WGA  - you might have to reactivate windows by phone.
2 - use the linux way - http://liquidat.wordpress.com/2007/05/20/howto-update-bios-on-linux/   For that you will need at least basic knowledge of command line operations - practically you will have to manually input 2 commands: one to goto the file ( cd place_of_file) the other to exectute it (run name_of_file). Best way if you know what you're doing it.
