Yes and no.

If the fan is not working, the unit will still work, but get very hot. If the laptop won't power on, the fan won't work, either.

Can you elaborate on this? Sounds like you got a replacement battery and the system is still not working. Can you remove the battery, but plug in the external power supply, and then power on the laptop? If the laptop comes on then the problem is not the battery. The problem is with the motherboard.

If it won't power on, as described above, you either have a bad power supply or a dead motherboard. Both can be replaced. You will have to do a search on the Internet to find a good replacement motherboard. The power supply is available to Office Depot, Staples, etc. and can be purchased around $80. The price on the motherboard depends on the supplier.

Hope this helps.

Your impala doesn't have a resistor , it has a blower motor control processor and it doesn't work the way you think it does
Chevy Trailblazer EXT Blower Motor Won Turn Off
Blower Motor Control Processor
The blower motor control processor is an interface between the HVAC control module and the blower motor. The blower motor speed control, battery positive voltage and ground circuits enable the control processor to operate. The HVAC control module provides a PWM signal to the control processor in order to command the blower motor speed. The processor supplies 12 volts to the blower motor through the blower motor voltage supply circuit. The control processor uses the blower motor ground as a low side control to adjust the blower motor speed.

TRUE GDM 26 merchandiser has sealed lines to the freeon and cant access. The fan blows warm air and all the lights work. It just doesnt cool. The compressor was cleaned only 2Xs in 3 years.

What do you mean the compressor was cleaned. It sounds to me you need to clean out the condenser coil. free it from all dust and debris. + Does the compressor work and what gas is in the system, does the condenser fan work. I'm assuming that when you say the fan works, it is the evaporator fan inside the cabinet working. You will have access the condenser fan either from the front or rear of the unit. The condenser unit is normally extracted from the rear. it should slide out but take care not to kink any of the pipework.

Thermal occurrence, the computer keeps shutting down and sending a message of thermal occurrence.

It is very likely that your computer has excessive dust keeping the fans from distributing air for cooling within the unit. It can also be an issue with the power supply fan not working. First, verify the fan is turning properly. If not, replace the power supply. The same thing can be true for the cooling fan for the processor. Check to make sure it is running. To do so will require you to look at it with the side cover off and computer running thus posing a RISK of ELECTRICAL SHOCK. UNLESS YOU ARE CLEARLY VERSED IN HOW TO DO THIS, I ADVISE TAKING IT TO A COMPUTER STORE.

If these two fans are working properly, cleaning the dust inside the computer is the next step.

Disconnect electrical cord from the computer, ground yourself by touching the case to eliminate static electricity, remove side cover from the computer.

Using "canned air" widely available at computer or office supply stores, blow out the dust from the power supply and interior of the computer.

Fan stopped

If the fan has stopped, then the processor will overheat. Most vendors have protection so that a non-working fan is detected and the unit will not power up with detecting its rotation. Seems like a repair shop job I'm afraid.
