does this model have a color wheel?? took it apart and cleaned the screen last night..mine is a lil different than most i see on you tube videos..mine doesn't have the box projector lamp,it has three big round colored lamps..one red,one blue, and i dont remember what color the third one is..looks like the setup on the older projection tv's...idk?? also i dont here any noise..read a couple posts where they say they make noise...again idk, just trying to understand is all

  • newdad09 Nov 08, 2010

yes i did last night..several of the crosses/boxes were a little off...adjusted them pretty well i think.. seemed to help a little..again, i think..also cleaning the inside of the screen, color bulbs, and mirror..which all were really dirty..seemed to make a difference...but the left/right edges still have a yellowish tint...i read a posting where somone said they seperated the two plastic screens and cleaned them..there are screwed in metal clips on all sides of the screen.. with one little electrical wired device on each side as well....but didnt want to try that without advice and more knowledge..just in case its a big no no..

  • newdad09 Nov 08, 2010

its a crt projection..no color wheel..tried adjusting convergence..not sure if it helped...still seems the same..read a post where someone said to seperate the two screen layers and clean in between...but dont want to try that without advice...still troobleshooting here

  • newdad09 Nov 08, 2010

crt gun itself? you mean like contaminated coolant? thinking were getting close..been reading and reading many posts and similar problems.. just got done reading how to check my crt coolant..posts say possibly my blue or green crt may be contaminated (algae growth?)

  • newdad09 Nov 08, 2010

The problem is related to the color wheel, no doubt about that. You can confidently go ahead and replace the same to resolve the problem.

Oh. sorry about that. HCR right yes its a CRT projection tv. I read it as HLR. Did you try adjusting the convergence settings?

You meant the Fresnel lens? You mean the lens behind the screen? If yes then yeah, its worth a shot, though I think its most likely a problem with CRT gun itself, its worth a shot be fore we come to that conclusion.

    Sai.

Yes. Algea growth can affect the CRT coolant. But I would suggest you try cleaning the screen and the lens to eliminate that possibility.

Yes thats what I said. Do it and see if the image gets better. If not we will consider the case of malfunctioning CRTs.

You are welcome. Let me know how it goes

Well in that case it sounds like an issue with the CRTs itself. We have tried everything else. To find out which one, you may want to get the inspected by a qualified tv tech. It is very difficult for me to see them online. More over unlike all the other parts, the CRTs hold potentially lethal voltages, so may not be such a good idea to do it yourself.

You just bought it today? I'm assuming you bought it used..? Did you know of the problem when you bought it? I would return the TV, this is going to be quite expensive to fix, it is a color wheel issue by the sound of it, or a video board.

Thanks, let me know what you think, just reply to my answer here and I will help you out..

No way to really know without trial and error to my knowledge.. Most likely is the color wheel itself.

It shows for whatever reason that this is now locked to some other expert besides myself. Not sure if I took too long to get back to you on this or what happened...

Unfortunately it is supposed to be just one of us at a time, let me know if you can't get any help though and I will be back

Our Samsung tv will not turn on/power on. It sounds like it starts to power on, the light blinks twice then you hear something, the light stays on solid after that. This model usually has an audible tone...

I would suggest two things you need to examine :

First remove and examine the lamp to make sure it is not shattered or fractured.

Second examine the color wheel that faces the lamp (see attached photo) and if you had a fan like sound or high pitched whine before that points to the color wheel.

The color wheel is a do it your self replacement (I can help) and takes less than a hour.

Let me know what you have tried and if the lamp or color wheel are intact.

Samsung just told me they wouldn't fix my tv because it was produced in Nov. of '06 and the only ones they would fix were made in August of '06 or earlier. I am way too angry right now to call the service tech number they so very nicely provided.

Samsung HCN2446W -- Yellow/Greenish tint all over screen

That model should be HCN4226W, right? Because the other don't come-up. Sounds like the mirror may have moved. It's mounted on the upper part of the back of the T.V. Should be flat against the back. Check that. Then see if all 3 tubes are lighting up. Also possable the fluid leaked out.....but not likely. These sets are fairly robust. Do you remember jarring it in the drive home?? Did you have it laying down when you moved it?
