SOURCE: connection to external monitor stopped working

Did you go to the display properties screen and check the settings of the second monitor connection. You must turn it on, and have it set to a low enough resolution for the monitor to work. If it shows the second monitor, Click Identify and it will put a number on the laptop screen. Which ever number doesn't show up is the external monitor. Select it and set the resolution down by grabbing the scroll bar and drag it to the left. Start at 800x600 or so and apply changes. If the monitor doesn't come on, check to see if the monitor is on.

SOURCE: LCD dim.

If you have replaced the screen and the inverter, about the only thing left is the flexible cable from the monitor to the video card. I take it that the Fn+F8 makes no difference?

SOURCE: LCD Monitor Dell Latitude D630

It would be better if you could let me know the Monitor Model so that I can make this specific. This Laptop has VGA port to connect External Monitor. Vga Port shown below:
nonontech_105.jpg

You'll need a VGA cable like this :
nonontech_106.jpg

You'll find another VGA port on the monitor (shown below), connect the one end of the vga cable to the monitor and the other end to the Laptop's vga port.
nonontech_107.jpg

That's all you need to do, but make sure everything including the monitor and the cable is working. Once you turn on the laptop, the display should show up on the monitor which you'd need to configure (if necessary).

Let me know if you have problem doing this.

Good Luck.

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

My dell l e4200 has screen problem, when I boot it up nothing is showing even if I press fn-f8.

There can be several reasons this is happening. The first thing I would suggest is testing the video card by connecting an external monitor to the laptop. If that works, the cable connecting the laptop screen or screen itself may have been disconnected/damaged/gone bad. If it doesn't work, the video card may have gone bad.

When i turn on my dell latitude D505 the backlight

Either the video cable has been damaged or unplugged or the video processor is malfunctioning. Check this by connecting an external monitor. If the video is all there then press the Fn(function) and F4 key. This should switch the video from the external monitor to the internal screen. If this doesn't happen or if the external monitor shows no video then the laptop needs to see a reputable repair perso or check my website www.micromendllc.com

E4200 Poor sound quality: no bass whatsoever

How much bass do you expect from a speaker less than an inch in diameter? Have you tried using an external surround sound system? It is unrealistic of anyone to expect stereo polyphonic digital audio from a speaker the size of earphones, unless of course they are earphones, and in that case they are designed to operate at lower volume because they would be on your ears.

Problems with external monitor

Typical issue is the second monitor resolution got set too high for the monitor to generate a picture. Go to display settings and adjust the resolution down to see if it comes back.
