My Magellan 1424 Roadmate has the incorrect time...its off by 23 minutes. I've tried to change the time zone, as described in several responses for time problems..but to no avail. I've got the correct time zone but it simply doesn't know the correct time- HELP...this is annoying.

SOURCE: Magellan roadmate 300 wont turn on!

I think the problem is with the internal power jack which tends to break. the part is MG361213 and is available at laptopjacks.com. You have to take the Unit apart and remove the old jack and resolder the new one which is a three pin unit.

Good Luck

I called Magellan and they told me that the previous destinations hold only 20 addresses and the new ones will override the old ones. I have more then 20 previous destinations and it just keeps adding new ones to the list.

Magellan roadmate 5630t-lm set time

You should get the time from the satellites when the Magellan Roadmate 5630T-LM gets the vehicle's current GPS location. You may need to adjust the Time Zone. Press the Settings icon (wrench and screwdriver) on the Main Menu. Choose the Time Zone option (third icon down on the right side of the display in the manual). Tap the correct time zone for your area (including any daylight saving adjustments) and confirm to save the time zone. See the section of the manual on Settings starting on page 25 for how to navigate the menu. There are no details on the Time Zone section but the steps are similar throughout the menu. Magellan has the manual in their support section: https://service.magellangps.com/M0100/MagMainFrame.aspx . Chose the Downloads & FAQ section. After choosing your GPS model, click on the Manual tab. The current link to the manual is file:///F:/Users/Cindy/Downloads/RoadMate%205630T-LM%20User%20Manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I updated software on my Magellan roadmate 1424 and after I had installed the updates the unit appered to get hungup and would not open operating system. I formatted it and ran the back up program...

The software of the unit got wiped out when you formatted the roadmate. The reason your system gets hungup was because it is not able to carr the updates you downloaded on it. Therefore, the solution was for you to have reset the device.

Now what you will have to do is to get some help from magellan, because they are the only source you can get the operating system from. Try to contact them from their help desk of:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST/PDT Telephone: 800 707 9971

They would provide you with the operating system for your unit.

I have downloaded recent update for my 1424 Roadmate and now it will not reload. The battery is fully charged and all I get is the Magellan Screen, cannot get into the program. The serial # is...

Actually it is registered with Magellan, we are an independent help site here.. just wanted to make sure you were clear there.

It sounds like the firmware was corrupted on your device when the recent update was loaded, it is more common than the GPS companies like to admit.. any time you load a new update there is a chance it will corrupt the whole device which is what has happened in your case.

You will want to contact Magellan to get them to replace the unit, free of charge of course since you have the extended warranty. Call them at 800 707 9971, however they are only open Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST/PDT

Thanks, let me know if you have any questions or concerns, just reply to my answer here and I will be right back with you.

My magellan roadmate 1424 won't turn on. i've tried charging the battery and the reset switch to no avail. Anyone know another way to reset?

I don't think the problem is with your reset, i think the problem is with your battery, as in it's dead. Most of these units whether Garmin, Tom Tom or whomever all need to have the battery working to some degree. They do not like to use the 12 volt system as power they prefer to use the battery as a form of ups power setting, since the electronics in these things are so light and testy, the battery makes for a ups system, If the battery is bad and will not take a charge then the unit will not turn on and if it does it will turn right off again as soon as it finishes it self check.Hope this helps.

Change the time on the magellan roadmate 1212?

I was in same situation with a magellan roadmate 1212. From what I can tell, the "daylight savings" is not what many of us may be accustomed to... that is, that it means that the location you are at follows daylight savings as happens with Windows or many other devices.

I bet those in Arizona never had a problem becuase they don't follow time zone... let me explain....

The daylight savings seems to state "are we currently under daylight savings time?" if we say yes (as you would normally state in your Windows computer setting (that would determine when daylight starts and stops and adjust pc time accordingly), the magellan 1212 instead will "ADD" one hour to the time stated by the Satellites regardless on whether it is summer ... or not.

So, if you happen to live in a time zone that follows "daylight savings" and you currently are under "daylight savings" time, then set it so in the "time zone".

So, there are two things you have to do:

/menu/user options/system settings/time zone/

1)Set your time zone
2)If currently under Set/unset the daylight savings set button to yes and manually move to no when not on DLS.

The explanation I found in MagellanGPS website is below, but never mentions what is the meaning (I should say effect) of the "daylight savings" button checkmark.

Magellan GPS receivers are not able to set the Time manually. In order to have the correct time set on your Magellan GPS receiver, you must set the proper time zone you are located in (ie Pacific, Central or Eastern). Once the time zone is set the exact hour and minute will display as information is received from the satellites. The following information will assist you on setting the time zone on your Magellan GPS. For Outdoor Triton series 200, 300, 400, 500, 1500 and 2000
  1. From the map screen press Menu and select View
  2. Select profiles and press Enter
  3. Select hiking and press Enter
  4. Press the Page/Go To key once and scroll down to select time zone
  5. Press Enter to select your time zone and Enter again to confirm.
  6. Press ESC repeatedly until you return to the map screen.
Note: Make sure Daylight Savings is adjusted accordingly. For Vehicle Navigation series Maestro and RoadMate 1200-1430
  1. From the map screen select Menu
  2. Select User Options
  3. Select System Settings
  4. Select Time Zone
Note: Make sure Daylight Savings is adjusted accordingly
