If it is still working, your unit apparently pre-dates the models made with the automatic "death-after-seven-years" circuitry. To be safe you should probably replace it even-so. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. Words to live by: "Every creative act results from a sudden cessation of stupidity." -Edwin H. How long are model # 900-0056-04 good for in terms being reliable? Ours was mfg. 04/16/97. Thank You

Surprised it is still working at all. According to the Kidde web site, all of their detectors (CO anyway, not sure about smoke) manufactured since, I believe, 2002, have a built-in clock that AUTOMATICALLY and apparently irreversibly disables them ~7 years after they are first powered up, a nice little "planned obsolescence/End-of-Life" under-documented "feature" that forces you to buy a replacement. Try to find THAT warning on the OUTSIDE of the packaging. Or call their "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and tell them how you feel about it.

I have a kidde nighthawk*(combo smoke/co alarm). It beeps about every 20 seconds with or without a good battery installed.

Does the display read, "Err"? According to the Kidde web site, all of their detectors (CO anyway, not sure about smoke) manufactured since, I believe, 2002, have a built-in clock that AUTOMATICALLY and apparently irreversibly disables them ~7 years after they are first powered up, a nice little "planned obsolescence/End-of-Life", under-documented "feature" that forces you to buy a replacement. If yours was manufactured before 2002 it may have escaped the automatic shut-down fate, so it probably really IS malfunctioning. Don't take a chance, just replace it.

My alarm is beeping every 30 seconds. i just changed the batteries

CO detectors have a limited lifetime of 7-10 years before having to be replaced. I don't know if yours are past their useful life or simply require cleaning. Try cleaning first, vacuuming.

I have a nighthawk carbon monoxide detector which was brought in 1996 will it stil work good or not

No, throw it away and get a new one.
The sensor deteriorates over time and usually has 5 to 7 years life. It is double that, so is unlikely to be effective and gives false reassurance.

Golding93, you could very well have elevated levels of CO in your home. You should leave your house immediately and call the fire department. However, if your CO alarm is 7 years old, it could also be the alarm's end-of-life warning. Regardless, you should definitely call the fire department to have everything checked out. If you need additional assistance with your CO alarm, please call our customer service line at 1-800-880-6788. Thanks for being a Kidde customer. We appreciate your business!

I have a NIGHTHAWK CO2 DETTECTOR, it reads ERR & i dont know what it mean?

Should be a Carbon Monoxide detector (CO). The ERR display means the CO sensor is probably shot. Unlike most smoke detectors, CO monitors have a limited life span. Same thing happened to me and had to get a new one.

I have a nighthawk carbon monoxide alarm which is showing nan error code. Please can you tell me what to do to rectify it? Thank you.

You can unplug the unit if it's an AC detector, change the battery for a new one and reset the Carbon Monoxide Detector. If that doen't work, you can have it checked by your local fire department. If the unit is more than 5 years old, it absolutely needs to be replaced.

Whenever in doubt about the efficiency of a carbon monoxide detector, a replacement is recommended. Yes, protection has a price, but a life cannot be replaced.

When I put the new battery in the unit continues to beep and say fire fire. The hush button doesn't work.

Sounds like the unit is contaminated how old is the unit?
did you buy it new?
dont try to clean it either replace it or have it fixed under warranty.

Has it been exposed to a fire?

Goes off saying gas but no apparent gas smell ?

Co2 detectors do have a life span of about 2 years and keep in mind that carbon monoxide does NOT have a smell, thus the point of the detector.
I would do a test, most of these units have a test feature. Then unplug and remove battery, then plug back in.

Carbon monoxide detector err code

Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (It's not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon: Amazon com Carbon monoxide detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers
