It probably has problem in the backlight inverter circuits. You will have to open it up and look inside for bad caps, blown fuse in the inverter board, etc, Post back what you find.

Monitor has cloloured lines or blank when turned on or resting

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since the power led or button is on and all connection are corrrect, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care

My monitor has just gone dark pictures now all look under exposed this has only just happened not sure what to do

magazine991, Use your warranty first! It's free! The internal "switch-mode-power-supply" has gone into partial shutdown mode. If you couldn't see the faint image on the screen using flashlight 1 inch from screen then it would be in FULL shutdown mode. You must have very good vision!!! Now all you need to do is get into my fixya profile and read, read, read!! Your monitor's basic design and operating principles are NO DIFFERENT than any other brand of CCFL back-lit LCD unit! Find out all your options on what you can do with your now BLACK but not BLANK monitor. Do not rate this response till you want to break this link. Do make a comment for more info if you still don't know what to do. I'm 12fixlouie Bye for now

Fainted image on screen

ltaufer, My best guess is monitor has partial shutdown of the internal "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply that lights-up the fluorescent lamps that provide WHITE LIGHT so you can see all the pretty colors on the LCD glass panel. Your monitor falls into the BLACK screen failure type. (no backlight) Full shutdown mode=BLACK and BLANK. Read more of my FIXYA profile to discover all the options you have to get it repaired and not ripped-off. Your CCFL backlit LCD monitor no different than any other brand of LCD in it's basic design and operational principals. Read, read, read!!! You must find out two things first. Not just WHAT failed, but also WHY it failed. Follow the links in my profile to other web sites!! Livio, This is my response #200 on fixya dealing mostly (98 percent) with BLACK screen problems. If you find this response helpful, please return to rate it in a few days. 12fixlouie

Dell Inspiron8600 display is blank. It begins booting, the screen flashes with the Dell logo then it goes blank. I can see faint images on screen but can't read anything. Can I hook up to an external...

If you get the boot image on your screen then you screen is working correctly unless there's something that you not explaining. You can try an ext. monitor if you think it is something related to your LCD screen not woring during boot up. If the ext monitor not showing your laptop to boot then you have problem with your OS and may need to get it repaired or restored.

Asus Monitor boes blank and comes back after power recycle

1. You can see images on the screen for a few minutes. That means there is nothing wrong with your computer.

2. When your screen goes blank, if you disconnect and then reconnect the monitor, it shows fine again for a few minutes before going blank (or dim) again. That means the problem is not with you video card.

3. It always shows the image after reconnection for exactly a few minutes before going blank again. yes? this means that there is nothing wrong with your cable.

Conclusion: Sorry, but you do not have many options. I bleieve that the problem is with your monitor that's going bad. Its far cheaper to get it replaced than to repair it.

Difficulty getting monitor to display when computer powers up

The Problem may be due to the defective inverter unit inside the monitor. Dry to resolder if any dry joint on the inverter PCB or replace the inverter board.
