SOURCE: locked dvd on a panasonic tv/dvd/vhs combo

sometimes there is a button/switch that slides sideways and will lock the machine so buttons can't be pushed during transport. usually that switch/button is one of the power button/switches. otherwise call the manufacture for tech support here is the number:1-800-212-7262. hope this helps

DVD won't eject from Toshiba DVD player. I have already taken cover off and can manually engage the tray. When I try to eject with the remote I just get a little ''lock'' icon on my TV screen.

Press setup subtitle 3 audio 0 to unlock ...worked for me. Thank a user on Videohelp.com for solution:

Pre-recorded dvd won't eject/entire system frozen

Try unplugging the machine so it will reset itself. Then plug it back in. That has worked for me in the past.
