Do not register was never an option-can I have my $5.00 back?

  • carolg217409 Nov 07, 2010

this was a bad solution as there is no option for "do not want to register" please suggest another one.

  • carolg217409 Nov 07, 2010

tried it-there is nothing for "customer connect install time," just "install time" will that be enough to fix it? When I tried just that one it said if I continued with the action it could cause instability with the driver. Is this true? Should I chance it?

You may check that pop-up if the registration reminder box will tell you "Don't see this message again" , in that case you will check the box and proceed printing. Otherwise, you may consult lexmark in removing the reminder box since this is a pop-up from Lexmark..

If you are on Windows 7, go into "regedit" and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LexmarkInkjet\IjPrtSettings\OFN1" and then delete the following two keys:

CustomerConnectInstallTime
InstallTime

You can also manually do this in Vista, just its under "HKLM\SOFTWARE\LexmarkInkjet\IjPrtSettings\OFN1".

Regards.......

Carol, All such notices have the following options: 1. Register, 2. Register later, 3. Do not register. Or words to that effect. Select #3, Do not Register.

I can't get rid of the registration reminder even though I've registered my printer

Though it did not work, I think you did a great job on trying the patch. But I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate this problem on 64-bit Windows 7. Product engineers are on the lookout for problems like this. I hope I can assist you more on this matter.

How do you stop the registration reminders for Lexmark X5070?

Go into Safe Mode, then Explore/Windows32 directory and look for any files with "Lexmark"; usually you can figure which files are the ones, even if they are not exactly named "Lexmark". Next, go into Start, Run, type Regedit you are now in the Register. remove only what you exactly need to remove .
Dial this structure:
H_KEY LOCAL MACHINE
SOFTWARE
MICROSOFT
WINDOWS
RUN
Single-click on RUN; in the Right pane are all the programs that are loaded to run on boot; look for any references to Lexmark and delete them. At least that will stop the Lexmark drivers from loading. While you are at it, click Edit, Find, type in Lexmark and search the whole Register for Lexmark references and delete them. It will help to clean out your register a little, but be careful. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, then it's really not necessary for your particular problem.
