Question about Bose Lifestyle 18 System

My Lifestyle 18 system says the speakers are not connected. I have checked and they are. Could this be an Acousimass problem? And if so, how do I check?

    MY Lifestyle 18 came with an Acoustimass. The speakers however are connected to the Bose unit. The Acositimass acts as a subwoofer. And so I'm a bit confused. I have tried turning off the Bose and disconnecting from the power. To no avail. I have also tried disconnecting and turning off the Acoustimass. Anyway to check if sensors are not working in either or both?

Please give me a bit more information here. The Lifestyle 18 is a speaker system and DVD player of it's own, including speakers, and the Acoustimass is also a 5.1 speaker system. So do you have both systems, or do you have the speakers from an Acoustimass attached to the Lifestyle 18 system?

Please let me know what your setup entails here so I can figure out what the issue is.

It sounds like the sensor on the LifeStyle 18 is the issue though if you are sure the speakers are connected but it's indicating they are not. Have you tried just shutting off the Lifestyle 18, then unplugging it from the power source for at least 5 minutes?

    The only way to tell for sure is if you are certain that it is plugged into the speakers but shows that it is not. You are not able to shut off the system? You should be able to just turn them off and unplug them from the power source for a good 10 minutes, unplug everything possible and then plug it back in and see if the sensor picks back up..

I have the ipod touch and have a lifestyle 18. I went to radio shack and the sales associate said I had 3 choices fair, good, best cables, I bought the middle for $19.00 Connect the white and red to the aux on the back of the system and plug into the ipod where ur headphones usually go, turn the volume on the ipod to about 75%. Push the AUX button on the remote The sound is awesome. Hope it works for you

apologies mate but what you hear at maximum volume (set volume to 99) is what the system can generate... The Lifestyle system are designed as stand-alone out-of-the box system and like other systems will only perform to their defined level. The only way is by using the AUX out (located behind the DVD/media center and connect either a pwoered loudspeaker or another amplifier (note that the output is fixed line so choose an amplifier with volume setting knob). with multiple loudspeaker of your choice. You may also go and buy expansions speakers from Bose itself

Running my Blu Ray DVD thru the Bose Lifestyle 18


hi there,

1-connect the blu-ray to your tv via hdmi cable and this will run picture.

2-connect the blu-ray via digital optical cable to the optical input on the bose system. then using your bose menu, (system menu)set your auxillary sound output to digital optical.

when watching dvd thru bluray player select aux on the bose and you're away.

Want to test to see if bose lifestyle 18 works.


Hi sorry but what do you mean that you have lifestyle 18 system? The lifestyle 18 system consist of the media center/DVD player, the bass module, the satellite speakers and the RF remote control (aside from tons of cables)

If you have the media center/DVD only, then you require the power adaptor. you can test if the media center is functioning if the LCD display is working. you can also connect an external powered speaker or an amplifier fro mteh AUX out behind the media center.

Do note that doing so will only give you limited control of the system since you require the whole lot to make everything work properly.

Want to use double cube speakers with my Lifestyle 18 system instead of the single cubes.


Hi, sorry but that may confuse your Lifestyle system DSP board since they were programmed to set equalisation parameters specifically forthe signle cube speakers. But still if your insisting and do get hold of the double shot satellites, you may use them and probably do an ADAPTIQ calibration to reset the equalisation curve of he system with respect to the new doulbeshot satellites you have installed. Though any problem that may arrise in doing so may void your warranty.

No sound from rear speakers on the lifestyle 18


The SL2 works in such a way that the speaker satellite out put from the bass modules is fed to the input of the SL2 transmitter (remember, transmitter) then the sattellitespeakers are connected at the other end of the room to the receiver. An initial blinking green light should be seen and once the system is turned on this turns into steady green. Both the SL2 transmitter and receiver operates via WIFI.

Center speaker static noise


Sorry sp106s, you have to take that to bose service center.
Its a complicated problem. Something is wrong in the amplifier
section inside your sub box. Only authorize servicemen can
open it, not any tech'n can.
