EMachine laptop/windows xp problem

Hi there!

i'm having a problem with my eMachine laptop. it froze on me so i shut it down. upon restarting a page came up telling me:

"we apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." etc. etc. etc.

it then offers me the possibility to start up with:

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configuration
start windows normally

i've tried each of these options but it just loops me back to this first page (it acts like it's trying to start up... a page comes up with the microsoft windows xp logo, then the monitor goes black then a quick flash of blue... next comes up an emachine logo saying to press delete if i want to change system settings... and then if i don't do anything it loops back to the first page i've already described).

???

any advice? i GREATLY appreciate any advice you can offer...

:)

Windows was writing to a file when the power went off. Now windows files are damaged. I'm assuming you have Windows XP on the machine. Do you have your Windows XP cd?

Emachine E528 Laptop is saying a disk read error occured push ctrl+alt+delete an it will restart

The error that you are getting indicates that the system is not able to detect the Hard Drive. We would need to confirm if the Hard Drive is detected in the system BIOS or not. For that we would need to turn off the computer. Turn on the computer and start hitting F2 key to reach BIOS. On the First page of BIOS it should show you the Hard Disk Drive with name and Number. If it shows all drives and none or not detected then it means the hard drive is not getting detected by the system. If you can open the Laptop and reach the Hard Disk Drive you can try to re-seat it to see if it gets detected. If it still remains undetected, Its time to replace the Hard Disk Drive.

Please try the above steps and get back for any further assistance or clarification

Computer begins to start up and then turns off after windows xp is displayed. Reformatted drive installed windows 2000, same thing happens

Hi,

The issue that you experience might be problem of your power supply please change the location or check the power supply of computer. If you shut down your Windows XP-based computer, your computer may restart instead of shutting down. The computer may also restart unexpectedly while you are using the computer to perform certain tasks. An error message may appear on a blue screen when the computer restarts.

For more information, please click the link below;

Moreover, check the motherboard, CMOS battery or SMPS, as that might be one of the reason. Any of such device not functioning properly may cause computer restarts automatically.

HP LAPTOP PROBLEM

Hi there

As knotbeerdan says you may need to repair Windows.

If the laptop is Windows XP, find a Windows XP system disk (the restore disk it came with or any system disk.

Put it in the CD drive and start the laptop.

When it gives you the option, type in R to repair Windows.

It may come to C: prompt.

Type in "chkdsk". This should check the hard drive for errors.

After this restart the laptop. Hopefully Windows will run properly again

Windows start up failure

Sounds like you could have faulty RAM or your HD has bad read/write sectors on it. Difficult to say without swaping out parts. Take it to a shop so they can figure out what needs to be replaced.
