proton77 thanks for your help I think it is close to the problem.

But here is the whole story.

My cousin borrowed it to me. They have thesis to do.

They bring it to their house. They traveled it about 200 kilometers.

Then they got home. They set it up and begin the work.

Totally no problem at all from house to their house.

They able to encode their work.

But the following day. They plugged the AVR.

The tower case automatically switch on without pressing the switch button.

Then it boot up. But not able to go windows even to boot up screen of Windows XP.

Instead the monitor shutoff and the monitor flashing the amber light.

Do you think it cause how they traveled along the way.

Or maybe they have insufficient power when they plugged my pc

the same day when they came to their house.

    Thank you proton77

    Thanks antiochpc

But the videocard is embedded in the motherboard.

There is no videocard in the AGP slot.

Intel GMA is the video graphics.

What you think might the problem if not the video card.

    Thank You.

Actually the poster did not say the amber light on the computer was flashing but rather the monitor. My guess is that during the transport, something came loose on the inside, most likely the video card. Open your computer and reseat everything on the inside and make sure all the cables are firmly connected. Your monitor is not receiving a signal so definitely pay attention to the video card, even removing it and putting it back in if you have to.

Hi,
If the front Light is flashing amber, the systems power supply has gone bad. Request you to replace the power supply and the front I/o panel and power switch . The issue would be resolved.

Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for your description. As you said, that it worked for a day and then wentt bad , it could be during packaging or unpackaging they might have bumped something.

Try following the steps in the following link , it should help you pin point the exact cause of the failure , which is suspect to be of the power supply.

    Hi,

If there is no video card , in the system .We can put a 128 mb AGp Video card , and probably get your system to work again.

See if you can arrange one from a computer store near your place. No need to buy a new one though..

Tip

Annoyed that your Num Lock key isn't on when you start your PC?

Here's a quick tip to ensure your numlock key stays "ON" by default when the computer starts.
1. log off your PC to the Ctrl-Alt-Del screen
2. Turn on the NumLock key
3. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del (like you are about to log on)
4. Don't log on, hit the "shut down" button to turn off your PC

This saves the numlock key in the "ON" position by default when the PC starts.

Tip

Customize the Shut down button windows 7

Customize the Shut down button The default action of the Start Menu's Shut down button is to turn off your PC. If you want to use the button for another action, such as restarting your PC, you click the arrow to the right of the Shut down button and select an action from the drop-down menu.
What if you rarely shut your PC down completely but frequently restart it? You can change the Shut down button's default action to be Restart -- or Switch user, Log off, Lock, Sleep or Hibernate.
To change your default, right-click the Start button and select Properties. On the Start Menu tab, click the "Power button action" drop-down menu and select which action you want to be the default. Then click OK, and OK again.

Cant remember my pc owner password downloaded a vista start menu on xp now cant switch users without owners password

ok so what you do is,turn of the pc and turn on, while your pc is starting up when the screen is black and has the flashing bar keep pressing F8 until it askes you if you want it to start up in safe mode, say yes. then when it gets to the log in screen it should say "administrator as one of your users click on it it should not have a password. then you need to go to the start menu>run...>type in "cmd">you should come up with a black box. now type in these exact words "net users", press enter. now type in "net user "put the name of the user you want here WITH the apostrophes" * (make sure to put the star there!) it should ask you to type a ew password for this user, now type what ever you want as the password, press enter. DONT FORGET IT!!! now close the box and restart you computer and use that password you put to log on to the user!!! hope this helps!!! =P

My laptop won't shut down properly!

Is it possible that you have changed the settings of what buttons do what on your system? E.g. you could have changed the power button to "switch user" instead of "shut down", to check this (in XP) go to "Power Options" (in Control Panel" and then click on the "Advanced tab" at the top, then select "Shut down" from the drop down menu at the bottom of the window.

If this is already set to shut down then maybe you could do a system restore in case another setting has been changed, restore it to before the PC started doing this.

Alternatively try actually choosing "Turn off Computer" from the Log On screen (press Ctrl + L to get to this screen, or choose switch user/log off). If you are using Vista I beleive that there is a shut-down option from the Log In Page there (which again you can access by pressing Ctrl + L on the keyboard.

Hope this helps!

Hp 530 laptop windows startup password forgotten how do i reset it?

Please Be aware that when using this option you will permanently lose access to any e‑mail messages that were stored on the hard drive (ie. like through Outlook) or encrypted files that are on that account.

If you only have One Account on the PC you are going to need to boot into "Safemode" to do this :

1. Restart PC
2. As it is Restarting tap the F8 key over and over until you see a "Start Up Options Menu"
3. Select Safe Mode and Press Enter
4. Voila! You are in Safe Mode
5. Log Out/ Switch User
6. You Should See and Icon for Your User Account and Administrator
7. Select Administrator.

My gateway 420GR desktop will power on but on the monitor only display no input signal. The PC will also not turn off at the power switch.

Sounds like the power button on your monitor is not on, is the light on the monitor yellow and dim or bright when you start the computer? Make sure the monitor is on. If you hold the power switch in for about 10 seconds the power will turn off. But that is not the recommended way to shut your computer down. Use your start button and log off or close that way. Good Luck.
