HP Photosmart 2610 & Vista Business

I own two HP2610s and I have been using them without problems for about two years on PCs running XP and Linux. I have recently switched to a VAIO notebook running Vista Business. I downloaded the full software&drivers package from HP's UK site (filename: AIO_CDB_Full_Network_enu.exe) and installed it. Everything seemed to work alright: two-way connection, diagnostics, document printing, etc. The moment I tried to print a photo on photo paper nothing happened. By keeping the printer window open, I soon realised nothing is actually sent to the print queue and that the print job is "lost" somewhere/somehow in the spooling process. I have so far exchanged a few dozens e-mails with HP support. Quick & friendly but not very helpful. The replies seem to be copied from a pre-set database. Their tips went from re-installing the software after having uninstalled it via a HP utilily hidden in the meanders of the Windows directories to trying the drivers for the HP990C. I do not know how many times I have tried and re-tried but the problem stands unresolved. As far as I can see, the moment I select photo paper of any type and launch a print job, the latter literally disappears. This applies of course to both 2610s I have in two different countries so I assume it is not "local" to just one printer.

I have a 2610 and have the exact same problem - letter-sized works just fine and photopaper seems to disappear

I am having the very same problem and was told to unistall and then reinstall the program. I asked if when you hit the print button in HP Essentials if the printer options box should open and then I would hit print once again from there? There was no reply. I thought maybe I had the pop-up box disabled from the program and when I went to settings to see if I could reset this, the option was not available to me...although a reset button was shown. And so, is there an answer to this problem?

I had no problem printing a photo with the 2610 on my XPdesktop. With my Vista Premium laptop and downloaded Vista drivers nothing but trouble.

I have the same problem with Vista (home) not printing photos. It does print text, but although I have tried many things, I have not found a true solution. I think I did get a picture to print one or two times in the midst of "trying everything" but I could not replicate it. The 2610 works with no problem at all in my XP laptop. I also sent queries to a different forum but no have had no successful responses there either. Will be most grateful for any suggestions for solution. rdnelson@princeton.edu

The best part is that HP refuses to really fix the problem. No, seriously, keep reinstalling their "everything but" software that takes over an hour to get into the damn box.

    same here guys!

I have exactly the same problem after changing my PC to one which came with WIndows Vista Premium.

I'd be interested in anyone with a solution.

In the meantime I'm going to try copying my picture files to an SD card and stick it in the printers slot!

Follow the link and get the correct driver and get installed

Also try with another USB cable, If you are using a long cable, just try with a short one.

Will not print photos

from the brief posting I've gotta ask what OS? windows - XP Vista, 7, Linux, OSx?

if windows do you have the right drivers installed (have you done a driver update search - go control panel -> system -> hardware manager -> select printer -> right mouse click and then properties find an option to allow the updating of the drivers from the net ), do you somehow have a default for photo prints setup somewhere and so the print goes to a NULL printer?

Know I may seem sketchy but without more details of your OS it's a bit hard.

Have you googled for HP 2610 photo prints not printing for XYZ OS?
maybe someone else has had this issue, lastly gone to HP to seach their?

Got given a HP 2610 all in one printer, prints but no scan

If you have Vista Preminium business just go into fax scan in accessories in program. if you have vista for home you have to go into paint in accessories and then do scan. Don't listen to what your printer says about software basically if you have vista thar's the way you do it

HP Printer /scanner problem

Are you running a space cleanup utility? HP unhelpfully uses the .tmp extension for live files, ensure you're not deleting them. I got "Scan.msi not found" and had to reinstall my AIO software every time until I told WinOptimiser to stop deleting .tmp files (except in the genuine TEMP folders).

Banner printing

got to be a setup problem. in your printer program there is a page for margins, page breaks. set all for zero or disable page breaks. as far as vista goes, personally I never liked it. I am running firefox and have been for the past three years. It doesn't have all the problem back doors like windows internet explorer. rarely do I ever get patches for the program - it just don't need them.AND firefox is completely compatible with 99% of all running programs.
