Question about Hayward SAND FILTER, PRO SERIES
This could be caused by several things. . After back flushing, did you rinse? Turned pump off, moved selector to rinse, and allowed to run until clear water was observed in the sight glass? If you continue to see the plume of particles, and it never stops, then you probably do have a problem. Your multiport valve gasket could be leaking by. Be sure you keep handle down when moving valve, and the gasket will last longer. You may have a broken, lateral (little fingers at bottom of the filter return piping. This would usually allow sand to flush out of the filter and it would be all the time. The "O" ring where the multiport valve seals to the down pipe could be leaking, letting the dirty incoming water mix with clean outgoing. Have you "cleaned" your filter lately? This is where you add a chemical to flush materials from top of sand pack? You can download a manual with troubleshooting instructions from www.haywardnet.com Enter your exact model number
