Question about DISH Network IR Remote Control

I have two remote controls with DVR capabilities, but only one of the remotes allows me to pause, rewind, playback, etc. on one of my T.V.s. What do I need to do so that I can use the other remote for another T.V.?

Hi, this is Cheri Torres with dish Network customer service. Just wanted to give props to bobby for his response good job! I also wanted to add, this capability depends on the kind of receiver you have. If you have a dual tuner DVR receive, you should be able to use DVR functions on both TV's from both remotes. However, if you have single tuner receivers one of them might not be a DVR and this could be the reason you're not able to access the DVR functions from that particular remote. If you have two DVR receivers it could possibly be that your remote functions are no longer working. Please make sure that your remote is in sat mode. You can insure this by pressing the sat button before you press DVR or record. It is possible we may have to trouble shoot to fix that issue. Feel free to post back here.

You have to contact your cable supplier. You only have access to do this on one tv. it usually costs extra to have the feature on more than one TV.

My pause, rewind and fast forward not working when watching tv

I ASSUME you are using the dvr function of a cable box or satellite receiver. I also ASSUME your other buttons are working, since you say nothing about them.

Check that pause, rew, and ff buttons have codes from the correct device. A code from your tv will not help if you need to control your sat receiver.

There may be multiple codesets in the Harmony database that work with your device, try all of them.

Sometimes the codes are poorly named or even wrong. You may need to try all the codes to find the right one.

I'm not sure if the Harmony One can learn codes from the original remotes, but that may be a better option.

What do you do when your pause and rewind are not working on live tv programs?

Did they work before? For example, I bought my son a Samsung TV and the remote had rewind, pause etc. on the remote but they did not work. This is because the smart TV did not record the live image to allow this feature as it did not have any built in hard drive and I had to add a memory stick or hard drive into the USB port on the TV to allow the rewind, record and pause to work.

Remote will allow you to "choose an activity" to

Hi. It sounds like some of the IR commands on your remote (menu, exit, guide, info, play, skip, etc.) for your TV and DVD player are not correct. Luckily, the Harmony remote is a Learning remote, meaning you can use your original TV or DVD player remote to teach the Harmony remote the correct commands. The following tutorial by Logitech will assist you with this:

I WANT TO USE MY SHARP REMOTE TO OPERATE MY SHARP TVT, DVD AND DIRECTV. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROGRAM IT. THE TV MODEL # LC-26DA5U

Go to the Remote control Manufacturers website and get the instructions for the remote control. Then you need the codes for each of the items you are going to program in. You can get some of the Directv functions on universal remotes, but if it's a DIRECTV with DVR then the rewind functions, etc. may not work. Good luck!

Program remote to replace all remotes

Hi, yes of course it is possible! First off, you have to make sure that your Dish device it set on remote address 1 in order for it to be controlled by the Harmony. Then, once you add the device to your Harmony account, if there are any functions that are missing, you can learn them right from the original remote .

Adding a device:
1. In the software, clcik 'Add Device'
2. Follow the on screen instructions.

Learning a command:
1. In the software, click 'Learn IR' next to the icon for your Dish device.
2. Go down to the bottom of the page where it says 'Learn a new command'
3. Type in a name for your command, and click 'Learn'
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope that helps you get this set up right!

The rewind/ff/record and pause buttons won't work. Everything else seems fine.

This will be due to either your Hard Drive crashing if you cant also access your recordings. if so then i would reccommend call dish At 800-333-3474 bercause your 721 DVR is outdated and discontinued. It also is in patent dispute with tivo. When you contact dish they will offer you a new dual tuner DVR reciver with way more recording time. this upgrade should be free of charge as well.

Remote Control Codes don't work with my LCD TV

There is no code!!! -- Solution...You have to buy a universal remote with learning capabilities. I’ve ordered one that will not only learn off other remotes but can handle 10 components also. I got it from 10x it’s called the iconRemote control…if you call the company they will give you a discount (but you have to call them and ask) AWESOME!
