Question about Optoma MovieTime DV10 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Abrupt shut off

This is a very new unit, used on a couple times. when I power up I get a quick flash from both the temp and lamp as well as the blue power button. the fan starts and in a moment the lamp comes on.
After about 4 mins the whole projector shuts down. The lamp, and the fan.
I'm sure it has to do with overheating and that this is an internal safety feature but what is causing this. This is a new, pristine device.
thanks

when i switch on the power the blue light flashes and go off

  • hostagelures Oct 26, 2008

Our Optoma, a different model, did the same thing after we had it for about 8 mos. We sent it to CA to the factory for their repair, and they returned it after about a month. We have had it back a month and a half and it has done it again. What gives with the safety switch?? We are tired of waiting for it to come back from the factory. Is there a place where we can get replacement parts?

my dv10 will play for about 10 min and then shuts off, lamp light blinking.
should i try a new lamp or look for a better projector?

After playing for 5 - 8 minutes, it totally powers down and will NOT power back up for another 20 minutes. During this time, the power button which is normally backlit in blue light and flashing is totally dim as if it were unplugged. After 20 minutes, the power button starts flashing and is backlit in blue as normal. It will power up but the problem will reoccur.

It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30 seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire

Mitsubishi HC900 Projector shuts down after 5 minutes.

You have 1 of 2 possible problems.

(1) You need a new lamp.

(2) You have an overheating problem.

Just a quick couple of notes about your projector. It is a DLP projector (not LCD) and as such the machine as no air filters to clean. It does have air intake and air exhaust grilles, but no air filters to clean. This next part comes directly from the owner' manual for your projector:

When the lamp operation time exceeds 2000 hours*1 *2, the projector automatically shuts off and can’t be used until the lamp is replaced and the lamp operation time is reset.

Your machine is designed to give visual warning messages at 1500 hours used, and 1900 hours used. Did you see any visual warning about lamp life over the past few months?

If you were experiencing an overheating problem, a "TEMPERATURE!!" message would flash up on the screen just before the unit shuts down. If there is no warning, you don't have a heat problem.

If you have a replacement lamp available, install it and reset the lmap hours according to your user manual. If you don't have the manual, google it on the web (it available).

TV WILL NOT TURN OFF

Greeting inmiltown,

It sounds like your approaching the end of your lamp's life. Most projection televisions have internal lamp timers. These lamp timers usually give you time to buy a new bulb before it needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Problem with tv

Pretty typical for lamp life. Buy a new bulb (not the whole lamp assy) from us (sedonix.com) or one of the many bulb sources on the net, install it yourself and save a lot.
