We have an older Phillips Magnavox tv. The tv will turn on & we will see the picture for a short time but then the screen turns grey. We still have sound, just no picture. Also, the green power light on the front of the tv begins blinking. Any ideas on what is going on with our tv/

Hello, the grey screen could be due to a missing 220Volt source which feeds the color (RBG cathodes)inside the CRT(picture tube). When this happens the beam current inside the CRT goes high in a matter of second, thus triggering the beam current protection circuit(blinking green light)shutting down the TV. Repairing the secondary voltage source is necessary to get the TV working normal, a good technician should be able to repair it for between 80 to 100 dollars parts included, except a picture tube, which could be also the cause of the problem(K-A shorts).

Phillips magnavox 9P6034C103 turns on but no picture or sound

Its a older set: most common issue which can cause your problem is convergence short.

The only way to know is gain access to the two (should be stk-392-120 or -110) convergence chips have to be unsoldered (all 18 pins on both) and then the set turned on to see if it will power up---picture will look very bad but if set comes on the chips are bad.

If you do not have the skill or desire to try that it may be time to consider replacing the set.

Picture is small then gets large then gets small again.

Probably a voltage regulator problem. It's not something you can fix yourself unfortunately

Phillips Magnavox Proj. TV only makes cyclic chirping sound

Most common reason is shorted convergence chips. Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and get their "chirping set" repair kit.

Have power but no sound or picture

Do you have high voltage? Check by turning up one of the screen controls to see if you have retrace lines.(pinstripe diagonal lines across the screen) If present turn the screen control back down until the lines just disappear. Check diodes 6003, 6012, 6025, and resistor 3669. If you don`t get a retrace line by turning up the one of the screen controls, check for missing voltages or shorted components in the horizontal output and power supply circuits. Note: Philips TV`s can be tricky even for experienced technicians. Good luck
