Hello

Make sure the needle is fitted properly and that the needle clamp is not loose. Bent or blunt needles will also cause needle breakage. If everything else is OK, make sure you have the right size needle for the thickness of the fabric. Using the wrong presser foot for different types of stitches will also cause needle breakage. Check the owner's manual or the computer screen readout to make sure you have the proper presser foot for the stitch you have programmed in.

Other causes include scratches around the hole in the needle plate, pulling the fabric too tight, a scratched bobbin case and the wrong bobbin type for the machine.

Choose the correct sized thread and needle for the fabric in question. Re-thread the machine by passing the thread through the needle bar. Hold the thread with both hands and fully pass it through the hook.

I would suggest replacing the needle, make sure the needle is correct for the fabric and thread being sewed.
sometimes when the fabric gets caught in the feed dog area, there are different reasons, I'll list some below
fabric is too thin--needs stabilizer
top thread has some off the thread take up lever
bobbin is turned the wrong way in the bobbin case
needle is damaged--replace needle with correct size for fabric being sewed--and insert the needle correctly into the needle holder.
if these suggestions don't help, I also suggest having the machine checked to see if there is some other problem like timing.

My sewing machine needles keep breaking

Could be a timing issue. Is your machine a top load rotary , or a front load oscillating system, (ie. metal bobin case you put bobbin into then insert to machine, or black plastic bobbin case you "drop" your bobbin into...?

There is two possible solutions. either the machine has been knocked out of time by a thread jam or the needle rod has been bent. Good Luck!

change the needle, if bent it may skip, use top thread while holding to pull thru, turn bobin around to turn in oposite dirrection, bobins usually turn in 1 correct dirrection

Needle is hitting the bottom of the bobin hausing

It sounds for sure like the needle is not in all the way. Try inserting the needle again, it ,may have slipped when it jammed.

Needle jaming and thread gathering under bobin case

when this happens to me (the needle breaking) I make it a thing to do and that is to use a qtip with a bit of oil and clean the bobbin holder and then use canned air and blow out the lint from area and this may help you. You may have a tiny tiny piece of needle left in the holder and this will play havoc with any kind of sewing machine. I have suffered through it many times before I made this a practice when needle breaks

Bobbin gets tangled up

Try taking the covers off again. Now check under and around the bobin case, thats the black plastic bit that holds the bobin. Look for any fuzz or stray bits of thread inside the machine and and around the feed dogs and under the needle too. I use compressed canned air to get in and really blow everything clean. For some reason if the machine is not totally clean, inside the bobin gets tangled up. If you have had even one knot, odds are parts of it are still floating around inside there somewhere and stopping some little lever from moving and jamming your whole machine. Clean under the bobin case too since lint can left it up and keep the bobin from being perfectly level. Also inspect your bobbin case to make sure it isn't scratched along the edge that rotates back and forth. Even a a tiny scratch will cause it jump its tracks and your bobin will lift up and become jamed. In that case you just have to buy a new bobin case. But most of the time your culprit will be some stray bits of thread or lint.

When it feels like the needle is jammed, open the bobbin cover and release the two black retaining levers, one on either side of the bobbin case. The hook cover that is visible will be released. If the machine turns by hand smoothly, you may have a piece of the broken needle, or just a piece of thread stuck behind the hook or hook cover causing the bind. This problem will sometime make you swear that the needle is stuck in something because it will usually bind while the needle is down in the fabric.
