Question about Singer CE-200 Quantum Futura Computerized Sewing Machine

My machine cannot load the device driver software. It says there is a problem with downloading the device driver and then stops.

    I have Windows Vista, yes I am trying to load it from a CD, and I have tried to load it with the sewing machine unplugged and plugged. I've tried every variation I can think of. I've tried shutting down my computer after I load the cd, that didn't work.



    Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    I have the CE-150 machine. I really appreciate your help. I've tried everything I can think of. Even tried calling Singer, they are closed until Monday morning and they work the same time I work, so I can't even call them while sitting at my machine.

    The other person was not of any help other than to tell me to contact Singer, which I already tried to do but they are closed until Monday morning, as you know.

    The good news is, I bought two Dell towers with Windows XP from work last week. I thought it would be a good idea to have them available just in case my laptop ever went down. So I am in the process right now of hooking it up and I'll just use it for my sewing machine only.

    Thank you so much for your help. I plan to call Singer tomorrow and see if they have a device driver for Windows Vista 64 bit. I would have been at a total loss if you hadn't helped me out.

    I have it loaded and running, however, I keep getting error messages saying my thread has broken or a needle has broken when I'm trying to embroider. I keep checking and the thread is fine. Then it keeps telling me that the USB cable is unplugged, but it is not. I'm about to package this thing up and send it back.

What version of Windows are you running on your machine? Are you trying to install the driver off of a cd that came with the sewing machine? Also, you have it plugged in with USB, correct?

    I am researching the best way to do this with Vista and your machine, but just realized I have not yet confirmed the type of machine you have. Many times it just lists a "generic" machine as your machine, but do you in fact have the Singer CE-200 machine?

    Let me know and I will have some things to try here.

    Ah I bet I know the problem, it does not work with 64 bit operating systems, pretty much period..

    Let's find out if you are running 32 or 64 bit Vista.

    Click the START button in the bottom left, then right click on COMPUTER and go to PROPERTIES. It will pop up information there...

    It will says Windows Vista (and then an edition such as Home, Professional..) and then if it is 64 bit it will state it right there, for example:

    Windows Vista Home Edition 64 Bit

    where 32 bit Vista would be:

    Windows Vista Home Edition


    Something along these lines. Please check this out for me and let me know what you find.

    Ok that is the problem, this machine just simply will not work with any 64 bit version, no exceptions unfortunately.

    Honestly your best bet is to find an older XP computer, you can get one at a second hand type store for less than $50... all you need is the tower, then use a switch like this one to attach the tower to your current keyboard, mouse, and monitor:

    That allows you to switch back and forth between two computers attached to the same keyboard, mouse and monitor.

    Unfortunately that is the easiest way... you will need some computer that is 32 bit to use this machine with it.. and reinstalling your current computer with all new software is a major pain, and if you don't own a 32 bit operating system will cost more than just buying an old Windows XP machine that has it pre-installed. Check in craigslist for your area... or let me know where you are and I can try to find a local machine for you that is less than $50, I am sure we can find one for $20 - 30 even if we look hard enough. Just reply with your zip code and we will go from there.

    I am so sorry it's such a pain, but at least we know exactly what is going on now.

    No problem! My pleasure for sure. Also, I don't think they have a 64 bit driver, but it never hurts to check - that's for sure. Keep me posted if you do find one, it would be good to know about for anyone else that runs into this issue.

    Wow it does sound like you are having issues with the machine at this point. To be certain try another USB cable if you have one, you may want to get one at best buy just to test with, and return it when you are done, that way you can be certain it either is or is not the usb cable itself.

    It does sound like the machine itself is having the issue though, not the best luck on your part that's for sure! I am so sorry about all of your troubles :(.

    I didn't realize this was only a week old, definitely talk to them and they will make it right. Sometimes with electronics such as these they are "bad" right from the factory, strange things happen... especially with electronic devices, that's why they warranty them... sometimes they are just prone to failure.

Not sure if you're running Windows 7, and if your driver is compatible with it, but you need to contact Singer and see if they have a driver for Windows 7, if that's the problem. Otherwise, it looks like it's a bad driver, and you will have to contact Singer for support. Here's their site:

I suspect that the problem you're having is your machine came with two CDs -- one for the basic software, and one for the add on software. If that's the case, before you can install the add-on software, you have to initialize the driver in Windows. Otherwise, you'll be a message that the driver isn't installed.

After installing the basic software (one CD), plug the USB cable into your machine and then connect the cable to your computer, then turn your machine on. You should them almost immediately get a message that a new device was found, and Windows is installing the driver for it. You can then proceed to install the second CD.

Loaded 3D Embroidery software on computer but will not recognize the dongle plugged in to the usb port. Drivers for dongle did not automatically load, went online to find a HASP file (driver I think) and...


1st try another usb port
2nd uninstall the software and plug the device in only after you have reinstalled the software and you are asked to plug it in. If it doesn't ask then install the software first and try again.

You can also right click on my computer and select manage.
then on the left side of the window select device manager, unplug and plug back the usb dongle and see if any devices appear or disappear also note any yellow ! marks. you may have to press the scan for new hardware button or right click on the window to scan for hardware changes.

How to repair a bernina hasp lock


HASP or security device dongles were used on earlier Artista software. If your machine still has a parallel port and the HASP devie is on the connector then you probably upgraded windows over time. There is a XP device driver fix you may need to install. I recently loaded the ancient Artista software into a modern machine so I know it can be done. Just need to have the proper hardware support.

If all your trying to do is communicate with the machine from the PC then look into an USB to SERIAL converter and use the Artlink software from Bernina (free). Has much of the function that the earlier software did except for limited edit capabilities.

Loaded autodigitizing onto our new computer with Windows 7. Everything loaded just fine but when I try to open program it does not recognize the dongle.

When installing the 4D Embroidery System onto Windows 7 computers, the dongle drivers may not initially work correctly, as the 4D Embroidery System installs a set of dongle drivers which were created before Windows 7.
Download and install the latest dongle drivers prior to installing the 4D Embroidery System. Failure to do this, may result in the "Dongle driver not found (E0009)" when you try to open the 4D modules.
Please follow the steps below to install the latest dongle drivers BEFORE installing the 4D Embroidery System
  1. Download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.
  2. Insert your 4D Dongle.
  3. Install your 4D Embroidery System software (and all updates).
  4. Open your 4D Embroidery System software to confirm that your dongle is working correctly.
If you installed the 4D Embroidery System software before installing the latest dongle drivers and if you experience problems such as the error message "Unable to start hasplms service..."; download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.

For Singer Futura CE 250. New laptop with windows 7? Loaded software & tried 64 bit Vista update patch - it doesn't work. Is the newer patch available for download? Can't use Live Update because...


Update with WIndow 7 support is already available at:

If you applied wrong patches you will have to uninstall Futura, reboot, install from the beginning the basic version and then apply an update 3.0.0.9

I have a Quantum Futura CE-200 and my computer cannot find the drivers for the machine. Not sure where to look for them. I have loaded software and patches from Singer web site. Any ideas?


You need to look for the drivers on the site and download it to the futura program, if one driver is not loaded correctly your program might stop while you are embroadering of might not work at all.

Can not download software


I too am running vista and had problems installing software ... I called singer support and they walk me through removal of futura ( you have to be sure u remove the already installed clem driver) and ALL futura... then re-install.... my machine is running fine on vista now!!!!
