Sounds like there could be a short somewhere. Check to make sure that there aren't any (exposed/bare) wires touching each other or if there is a bare spot of wire touching something metal. Check both ends of all the wires. A speaker wire may have come lose and is shorting out against the frame or some other place. Usually if it goes straight into protection mode or you're popping fuses you have a short somewhere. I assume the capacitor you installed is somewhere on the power line, which would be for helping with noise. You can also try disconnecting your amp from your stereo and see what happens but leave the speakers connected, you don't want to run the amp with out a load on it (the speakers). If your amp doesn't go into protection mode when the stereo is disconnected, then you have a problem with the stereo and not the amp, assuming you already checked for any possible shorts first.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty .

I have exactly the same problem, try a different speaker wire from your sub terminal to your amp terminal, if no luck you may have a loose connection on the wires on your sub, due to vibrations etc they can sometimes come loose, but very rare. worth checking though. 1 loose connection can make the amp go into protection mode. If all of these are fine, start from the beginning, ( I have tried this and i think its my speaker wire shorted out) 1st dissconnect all wires from amp. Then connect ground first, then your live. then power up amp, it it works andd not in protect mode your earth and live are fine, then connect your remote, then test, then speaker wire , then test, that way you can rule out bad connections and find any fault.
How did you connect the capacitor? it must be in paralel with the amp..you can also try to mesure in the amp and capacitor, the tension in the positiv and negative connection, it must be 14,4vdc when the car is working..if not, check the batery, fuse and ground connection until you get 14,4vdc. hope this help.

if ur output power amp is defective u will have that problem - meaning the moment u connect load across it it will go into circuit protection to limit/stop excessive output current. make sure the speaker terminals are connected to +/- output terminals. in bridge mode use only channel 1 and that too with 4 ohms speaker only otherwise amp will clip. considering all connections are okay if it still clips when speaker is connected, u have a faulty power amp section. this the way ur amp is designed
Many amps will go into protect mode if one of the speaker wires is shorted or grounded, or if the voice coil(s) are defective. Try disconnecting the speaker wires one at a time and see if the amp still goes into protect upon power up. Likewise, some amps will go into protect if one of the inputs is grounding out. Again, to troubleshoot, disconnect them one at a time and try the amp. Next, make sure that the amp itself is not grounding. Most amps need to be mounted to a nonconductive surface. If the case contacts the frame of the vehicle, it can cause a problem. If the problem is not in the speaker wires or the input cables, the amp case is not contacting the vehicle frame, and you have checked your power, ground and turn-on leads, then the amp itself is probably faulty.
Hello fordguy, love the name i'm a ford man myself if thats why you chose it. Anyway to the amp. I buy broken amps all the time from E-bay and find which parts are bad order them and replace them and the amps work great. I just bought and recieved the same amp, Bazooka EL1500 and right away when I put power to it the protect light came on. Let me tell ya a little about car amps and the mostly the main reason they go into protect mode. First it could be something small and stupid like a fuse, sometimes amps protect light will still come on even if fuse is blown. Maybe something inside is touching something else causing it to go in to protect mode like lets say a small peice of solder is connecting to solder traces together or whatever, you get the idea. Second and this is I'd say 80% of all protect lights coming on. You either have shorted out output transistors or powersupply mosfets transistors. This is mainly the cause of this all the time. Sometimes though it's not and you have to do further testing. With your amp, I don't know what was going on at the time of when it quit. The capacitor you speak of is fine it's just the protective shrink looks melted cause thats how it was done when amp was made. You need to test all output transistors and power supply mosfets with a digital volt meter set on diode check. try just hooking up a power wire and ground wire only. disconnect your subs from your amp along with the remote wire and RCA's. if you have some jumper wires or run a wire from the power terminal to the remote wire. YOUR amp should come on, if it still stay's in protection mode it might be shot... hope this was helpful, i couldn get my a2300hcx to come on and tryed this and it came on turns out it was my remote wire was bad of the head unit...
