It usually finds and updates whatever map(s) you currently have on your GPS device. However, if you have a few maps, it may offer you options to buy more (maps) ... as one or more updates ... for one or more additional charge.
You just need to load United Kingdom maps. Go to www.garmin.com find and purchase appropriate maps, then load them on your Garmin. Then you can search for Ireland address',, and will show your position in Ireland, or anywhere in the British Isles.
Alternatively, you could look on ebay.com for someone selling chip with maps already on them.
This more likely than you might think. Visit Garmin first and check out prices, so you know what is a good deal.
It will depend on how much memory you have in your Garmin. If you have maps that you want to keep then I would download those first and then add in the Ireland maps. Or wait until you leave to add in Ireland. I believe the Garmin will tell you if there isn't enough room to add in Ireland.
Hi, You will have to buy a version of European maps. After you download them into your Garmin it will work just like in the US. Here is a link I found for you. It looks like you need to buy all of Europe but there may be a way to just buy individual countries. Best wishes on your trip.

Yes that model does have maps for Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. As long as it's a newer model you are good to go (which it sounds like it is).
The easiest way to check would be to put in an address in Ireland as the destination. If it gives you an error saying not found then it's a safe bet that it does not include a map of Ireland, if it says impossible to navigate from here then you know it does see the destination, and knows that you can't possible get there by land from where you are.
No. They are refering to maps sent from the computer to the Garmin device. Maps are not transferred off the SD card to the unit. Simply insert the SD card into the device and the Garmin will read the maps from the card.

if your talking about proper postal codes,Ireland doesn't use them.Big cities like dublin,cork are broken down into numbers eg.D1 ,D2 etc.a fairly basic version of postal codes.outside of the cities there is no postal code sytem at all.
I think you'll find that you can download it from tomtom home, with full technical help online & on the phone.
I dont advise COPYING it from a friend as you will get a symbol appear on the screen with a tomtom SD card with a large red cross through it, indicating that the tomtom knows its not a genuine copy.
