The problem is that the parts no 240 Defrost thermostat - Limits how warm the freezer section can get during the defrost cycle.
Part Number: AP3884317 made by GE

Need to be replaced. This thermostat should have switch off the defrost element is it exist the temperature in freezer department during the defrost in order to avoid the situation you describe but the most important in that the products in your freezer have meld and freeze again and this mean that they are spoiled and not to be eaten since they are very danger for your health.

Ice Melting towards the front of the ice hopper

Check that the fan motor wiring has not been disturbed. If the freezer fan is not working, the fridge will generally start cooling but due to poor air circulation , it will stay colder at the back but will get warmer at the front hence causing the ice to melt. The usual temp for a food compartment is around 4 degrees. The freezer should be -18 degrees celcius.

My ice maker quit making ice on my amana bottom freezer

Hi, If your ice maker has stopped making ice then you need to check these things.
The lever that controls the ice maker has been pushed up which turns it off. If you have a red lever, pull it down to the wire and if you just have a wire then just pull down the wire to start your ice maker up.
Make sure the freezer temperature is below 10 degrees F If the freezer is too warm ice production will be poor because the ice maker will not cycle properly.
The ice maker fill tube may have ice formed in it, blocking it. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Watch out for the plastic parts, so that you do not melt the plastic. Also check the water inlet valve and the shut off valve, to make sure it is not plugged with debris. The openings in those valves are very small.
Check the gears in the ice makers to see if they are broken or stripped. Also look to see if the ice rake is broken. All parts in the ice maker are replaceable individually, If you find broken parts replace them.

Take care

When the door to the freezer is closed there is a vibration noise from the icemaker. When the door is opened, it is quiet. Also, the ice is not forming solid Thanks

Possibly there is a 2 part problem you are experiencing. 1)That vibration i dont think is the ice maker. It is your evaporator motor. 2)The fact that the icemaker is not forming the blocks nicely could be because the freezer setting could be set a little to low. The freezer temp. is what freezes the ice maker blocks. You may want to play it safe and do a 12 hour defrost which may be the reason why the vibration is heard.and reduced freezer temp.

Ice melting in ice maker

Remove the food from the lower shelves , so the inside rear lower freezer panel can be removed ( only 2 or 4 screws ) .
The # 4 thermistor or # 5 thermistor is bad . # 4 tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted and when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp and when to cycle off / on , due to temp setting .

Had a problem similar to this with this frig and the problem was a bad mother board that kept the fans from operating correctly to disperse the temperature. I woould actually get stalagtites forming from the warmer top shelves to the colder lower shelves. Repaire under extended warantee.

GE refrigerator, ice melts in ice bin

Since your refrig is cooling , I would replace the # 4 AND # 5 thermistors . The # 4 thermistor , tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp , when to cycle off , associated with the fan speed also .

Unit doesn't work when icemaker is on- Kitchen Aid Superba

that is unusual for the ice maker to cause it not to cool, but definitely not unheard of. if the fill tube to the ice maker, or ice maker itself, is leaking down the back of the freezer, behind the evaporator cover, it would form ice around the evaporator fan motor. this would cause the fan not to run, and the temp in the freezer and frige would rise. the ice would melt when it went into defrost, but then build up again. you should remove the rear panel in freezer and see if you see any ice build up around the fan blade, and if so, find where it is coming from. I hope this is the case for you. much cheaper than a compressor or new frige if it is. let me know if you have further questions. good luck, shane.

Frigidaire, ice on floor of freexer

check to see if the defrost drain is not frozrn over or stopped up
this is the only way that water can get into the freezer
frost could and melt but dont think that i would check the drain at the bottom of the rear freezer panel if you see ice it is stopped up for sure
if all is clear there go to the ice maker, have had some that are overfilling and runnig over the ice maker into the bottom of the freezer
