Question about Frigidaire Dryers

1 Answer

I have a frigidaire dryer Model # FDG546RES1. For awhile now it makes a loud rubbing noise. Some times our clothes come out with burn marks, papercut slices in the material and sometimes a piece of clothing is stuck where the felt is around the edge of drum. I can run my finger around the inside of dryer and there is a gap running half way around the drum track (I guess that is what you would call it). I can stick my hand inside the dryer and push up on it and there will be no gap. I don't know if you will understand this problem, but i hope you can help me out. Thank you for your time...Lisa

Frigidaire gas dryer model flxg52rbs3 is making strange noise and leaving burn marks on clothes. I want to take front cover off to clean out lint but I need to know how to take cover off.

The burner safety system is not working. The thermostat may need to be replaced. If it were too much lint, the dryer would not dry the clothes completely. Take the vent hose off the dryer and vacuum it out and if it connects to a wall that vents to the roof, then vacuum inside the wall too. Lint fires are more prevalent than those that vent thru the wall to the outside.

Noisy and wont dry! Mod # FDG336RES1 Ser. # XD85136300

Hello Cynthia J Valenzuela - From what you have described it sounds like you either have a problem with the belt, front and/or rear bearing, or a loose connection with the motor or drum. If the unit is no longer heating it could also possibly have a defective control board, power supply, heating element, sensor or high limit thermostat. I recommend contacting a professional to accurately diagnose the issue, the part(s) may have to be replace depending if they are worn, damaged or loose.

Thumping noise

Sounds like the tub is unbalanced from either a bearing/pulley suspension problem or the unit has broken something off in between the tub and outer portion of the unit before you get to the walled panels, and you are hearing a rubbing and thumping noise. This is not a typical DIY job since the entire back panel of the unit needs to be pulled off and diagnosed.

Will have burn marks on clothes sometimes

Are you sure it's burnt marks or could it be from getting hung up between the drum and cabinet and rubbing due to the drum guides failing? Look at the rear and front of the drum to see if the clothes could be getting hung there. Is the dryer making any kind of squealing noise while it is running?

We have a Frigidaire FER211AS2 dryer that started making a loud humming/roaring noise. Hubs replaced the bearing and drum belt. The noise isn't quite as bad but it still makes the same noise. What could it...

Check the alignment of the belt. Humming/roaring noise usually comes from a bearing, so your husband got it right to change the bearing and belt.
Now, he just needs to make sure that the belt is aligned right and the bearing is properly seated. Also check for rubbing marks around the travel area of the drum.

Brown marks on my light coloured clothes

I just noticed My Frigidaire doing the same thing. Using a lightly soapy damp cloth, I cleaned the interior, paying particular attention to the small gap between the drum and the housing. I also took apart the lint pre-filter and screen and cleaned them. There was a filmy build up of the same colored substance. I suspect that dryer sheets are leaving a waxy residue that over time is sufficient enough to rub off on lighter colored, primarily synthetic, fabrics.

Frigidaire Dryer. Clothes are damaged by either being ripped when caught on dryer drum. Clothes also are marked with hard to remove rub marks.

Open the dryer door. Reach in just inside and feel for the felt seal that goes all of the way around the drum. The culprit is usually the top portion of the seal which supports the end of the drum near the door is worn out. This allows the drum to tip down and leaves a gap at the bottom. Clothes get caught in this gap and get rubbed and marked or rubbed clear through. Remove the front of the dryer and replace the seal. On some models the top 1/3 is replaceable. This portion carries the weight of the drum and is what wears out.

Frigidaire dryer gets clothes caught in between the drum, and body of dryer

Just did this today! The brown marks are the felt that is around the part that suspends the drum. It has probably been making a rubbing noise for awhile? The mechanism that supports the drum and allows it is spin is called a bushing This is no longer balancing the drum properly so it is rubbing against the felt and wearing the felt down. The brown marks are burnt felt rubbing off onto the clothes. Get a new bushing assembly and either a top and or bottom felt replacement kit. Replace all worn felt! The top felt has either two or three plastic gliders on it as well. It has been an all afternoon job for me. A second pair of hands is also helpful so long as you are not married to them! Good luck...(I paid $90.00 for a top felt, bottom felt, and a whole brand new bushing unit.)
