Question about Sunbeam 2350 Heritage Series Mixer

Open Question

How do I disassemble the beater end of the Sunbeam 2350 (without breaking it)?

OK, so I broke it, but figured it out :/

You have to remove the first of the two little screws next to the beater shafts then there is a little screw that is accessed by removing the release button. You have to pry up the button and then there is a screw at the bottom of the hole.

Anyway after doing all of this, you still have to remove the whole rear end and wiring to get the business end out. Then the business end is a pretty sealed unit (which can be accessed with prying). All this to see that the plastic gears were indeed worn down and the reason the system was slipping.

I had already bought a replacement, just wanted to make sure my diagnosis was correct.

Try placing some "braces" rubber bands around the shafts of the beaters. This should tighten the hold of the shaft with the mixer and keep them more straight.

Will not spin fast enough to whip cream

Do you have more than one size beaters, if you do use the smalest ones that will rase the rpm DFD

Motor runs but beaters do not turn.

I challenge you to do-it-yourself...you can do it. Just be careful when removing it apart. I advise you to take a video or get some snap shots while you are at it. This way, if some springs snaps out, I assume that you took a picture of it already.
Usually those plastic gears are the problem. Goodluck!

Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series Model 2350 speed problem

The speed control on the back is simply a variable resistance potentiometer, the same thing that controls the volume on older amplifiers. The output current to the motor is supplied by the printed circuit board in the bottom of the unit. This allows gradual increases in speed to avoid over-torquing the motor on speedup. Even the poshy-posh-posh mixers do this.

At least it still works. The most common problem is the cheap plastic drive gears that strip out with a mild cookie dough, this jams the beaters together and requires burial-at-dumpster.

Have one that does not work and want to know how to open it- can see no clear idea how to and want to avoid damage. regards, Peter

The mixer is not designed to be disassembled or serviced. When it breaks (and it will) Sunbeam will replace it under warranty if you are lucky or you toss it in the trash.

That said, start by prying out the beater release button. There are two small screws under it and one between the beater inserts to remove the chrome front cover. The large black dial at the rear can be pulled straight off, revealing more screws. The motor and drive assembly in the top cannot be removed without disconnecting wiring from the circuit board in the base.

Sunbeam Stand Mixer

For whatever reason, Sunbeam must have decided to cut on costs and used a plastic gear to transfer power to the beater. I had my Sunbeam for two years and the plastic gear decided to break. End of mixer. You cannot find a replacement part anywhere. It is the last sunbeam I will buy.
