Tv has horz distortion lines while a green horz line rolls up then down turn off tv and back on and tv works ok?

Projection sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3d, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then yourconvergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. The power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

What you will need to do is convergence. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com . It includes replacement parts, step by step guides, support, etc.

Mitsubishi WS-65908 will not stay on

Its a color convergence problem from description:

If green light comes on for a few seconds and goes off:

On the front of the set (not the remote) press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Watch power light: it will blink a two digit error code, in your case I suspect it will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks and repeat several times.

Let me know error code and I will help.

We were watching tv and there was a pop the screen went out and now there is a red button just to the left of the power button blinking and making a clicking noise?

A pop means that a component inside the tv has failed the big way - it has exploded. The red button that blinks is the status light - it signals that a massive short has been detected and the power source of the tv has been forcefully shut down. The clicking comes from the source, it keeps trying to start so the protection system keeps shutting it down.
The failed component will have to be identified, replaced and the rest of the tv tested to check what other damage has occurred and fix it. This is a job for a pro, no way you can fix that yourself. Unplug the tv from the wall - leaving it powered only makes the damage greater - and call one.

The picture on my TV has started to "shadow" or double on the sides of the screen and seems to be slowly working its way across the entire screen. The color is also getting goofy. My set is 7 years old.

Tv started to shut off here and there, then the

Hi,samsung has 3 major failures. The 1st one is the lamp, which averages 6000-8000 hrs 2-4 yrs. When it's about to go bad it shuts off and on or image won't come at all.You can find your part here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=BP9601472A Another problem that causes tv to shut off is the ballast, which is the board that powers the lamp.It makes clicking sounds and will cause pic to flicker. The other problem is the color wheel .The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises.Have a bless one!
