Firstly, switch on the printer without a cartridge inside. Put in the old cartridge and if you get the Error 32, it could be poor contact. Clean the contacts in the printer (contact with the chip on the cartridge). If you don't get Error 32, there could be a problem with the chip contacts on the new OEM Lexmark cartridge or a faulty chip. As for other brands or remanufactured cartridges, it could be compatible parts they used. The chip and toner wheel have to be compatible.

on the inside of the top cover on the left side when the door is open there is a little switch youll see a little metal tab 5/16'wide push on this and see if the error clears. if it does this can be adjusted. if not pull the cartride out there are two sensors on the right inside one close to the front this is an optical sensor blow this out with canned air if you dont have an air compressor. then further back inside there is a two pin sensor make sure that if you push in on these that they dont stick. next there is a smart chip on toner caartridge that lines up with those pins when its installed clean these contacts. doing all of these things usually geets rid of the problem. no parts have been replaced recently right? check the connector to the logic board this is theeonly 3 pin connector that has black and white wires. this sohlud fix your problem

Open up the "Printer Solution Center." If there is no icon on your desktop for your Lexmark printer, click on the "Start" menu button, which is located at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Click on "All Programs," and then look for "Lexmark." Select the "Printer Solution Center.
Choose "Install a new printer cartridge" under the "Maintenance" tab.
Click on "Next" until you see the "Print the Alignment page" option, then choose "Print."
Repeat steps 1,2 and 3 if the ink level gauge still isn't showing sufficient ink.
