  • Marc75 Jun 15, 2008

    still doesn't work. windows tries to install the device again because the drivers aren't there.

  • Marc75 Jun 15, 2008

    you would think. tried to have windows search the cd and nothing. the web site is useless when trying to search for drivers.

My Magellan Roadmate GPS has a "USB" error

click on start and then RIGHT click on computer then click on manage

click on device manager in the top left window and a list of devices will appear in the top right.

Plug your magellan roadmnate into the usb port and the top right window will refresh. See if you can see a device that says unkown device check also under usb controllers by clicking with the lefvt mouse button on the + sign to the left of the words usb controllers. If you see unknown device or anything with a yellow exclamation mark , right click on it and click uninstall. when you have uninstalled the problem hardware restart the pc and unplug the device BEFORE windows starts. When you are back up and running plug the Roadmate back into the computer and hopefully windows will install the device correctly

MY TomTom GO 920 is not recognized when I attach via USB to my home computer.I have Windows 7 sysystem. There is a connection because the power light is on, but it never asks me if I want to connect to...

The TomTom tries to connect to a specific drive that might be taken by another app (i.e. DVDFab Virtual Drive, or others drive virtualisers, or perhaps the drive is mapped to something else), with that in mind, here is the solution:
1) Connect your TomTom and wait until it connects to your PC;
2) In Windows go to 'Start';
3) Right-click 'Computer';
4) Select 'Manage', to open the 'Computer Management';
5) Expand 'Device Manager';
6) On the right-side screen expand 'Portable Devices', check for yellow-triangles with Exclamation mark inside;
7) Take note of the drive letter;
8) On the left-side, expand 'Storage';
9) Click on 'Disk Management';
10) Now, on the right-side, scroll-down and look for the drive letter you noted before in Step '7', where you see Disk 0,..., Disk 1, ..., Disk 2, and so on;
11) You'll probably see that drive letter assigned as the one TomTom is trying to use, so right click it and choose 'Change Drive Letter and Paths...';
12) when the window pops up, click the Letter and then the button 'Remove';
13) Press 'OK' to close the window;
14) Unplug your TomTom and Reconnect it.........
Windows should now recognize your device.

Hope it helps! ...PaPpArAzZi

Is it connected to the pc via usb? Try other usb port like the usb port on the back of your computer if your are using a desktop computer.

Device not recognized by computer

Lots of folks having this problem with many different TomTom Models, mine was with a GO630.

Do a "reset" on the unit, use a paperclip or somesuch and hold the reset button on your TomTom in for about 5 seconds, and the unit will rrset and will be recognized by your computer.

Computer not recognizing garmin305 via usb

Hmmm, on the cd/dvd is a folder called usb, thats where the drivers are. Assuming you are using windows XP, go to the configuration screen, select system, select hardware, look for a usb device with an exclamation mark, right mouse it select update driver, select I will choose, then browse to the folder on the cd. If that doesn't work or there is no yellow exclamition mark, look for unknown devices remove them (delete button) and do a rescan (little icon with the screen on it.

download the usb driver from the website. Then go to your device manager (rightclick "my computer" and click on properties. then click on device manager) Once there, see if there is a yellow exclamation point next to the garmin slot. If there is, right click it and choose update driver. Then follow the prompts to locate the new driver. This shou;d solve the problem.

Garmin IQUE 3600 unable to HotSync, Windows XP

I think I have solved this problem.

Try this:

Go to my computer, right click -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

Locate your IQUE 3600, or Palm.

Now, if your palm has a Yellow Exclamation mark on it, that means that your computer is not recognizing the Palm. Select
Driver details. Re-install the driver off the "Setup CD" that came with your IQUE 3600.

This worked for me.

Good luck!
