Question about Dell Dimension 5150 (DIM515MIN) PC Desktop

Hi, Everytime I turn on my DELL Dimension 5150 I am faced with the following message: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME If this is the first time......follow these steps: Check to make sure.....for any windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove......and then select safe mode. Technical information: STOP: 0x000000ED (0x82DCE900, 0x0000006, 0X00000000,0x00000000) Comment: I have viewed most websites and forums but this seems to lead no where. Your assistance is appreciated.

This sounds like it can not mount your boot file from hard drive which needs to load windows. Sometimes this will happen if you leave a floppy, cd or some kinda usb flash drive in computer when rebooting and it does not happen always. I would try to boot in to safe mode as message is saying. To boot in to safe mode modet computers use F8 key. Turn off your pc and then as soon as you push power button start tapping key F8 located on top of keyboard. You can stop once you get screen that says Advanced startup menu. Choose option Safe mode and press enter. You will need to use arrows to make selection. Once you choose safe mode wait for the loading to be done and then choose ether your windows name or Administrator. Once in safe mode you will get error message just ignore it and press yes. When windwos comes up try to do a restore to previous date. Go to start-programs-accessories-system tools-system restore.in system restore choose restore to earlier time and on the calendar choose date that your computer was working fine. I usually go even week prior to when computer stopped working. Your data will be saved but if you have installed some programs you might have to reinstall them. Hope this helps.

Hi, there is a proper solution for you.

Just follow these instructions gradually...

1. Install its software from the dell web.
2. Before choosing the driver choose operating system as XP.
(You can use the following link; http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dimension-5150x/drivers)
3. When ask for the device or dongle attach then not before starting the installation.

Dell 5150 won't load drivers


Hi try going to control panel, system, hard ware and then device manager. If you have any driver issues, your device will be highlighted by a yellow ? With your driver CD in drive, click the + sign and right click the device with the problem, select update driver, follow instructions and select install driver from disk. Hope this helps

Dell dimension 5150. wont start


Most times when you have flashing yellow light there is issue ether with cpu or motherboard. Just to be safe test the power supply and if ok then try to replace cpu and go from there. If power supply issue just replace it. Might be easier to take it to pc repair store. Good Luck

Dell Dimension 5150 no sound - please help


You should be able to download the original driver files from Dell Support Drivers & Downloads.

However, this may be worth a try:
Go to Start --> Run, and type in services.msc.

A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click
and click on Properties.
Make sure that "Startup type" is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under "Service
status," start is selected.

Can not get into safty mode get floppy diskette seek failure i have a dell dimension 5150


restart the pc and press F2 immediately after the dell logo comes on.
go into BIOS and disable the floppy drive. exit and restart the pc.

Hi, maybe he was over heating, open your tower and look the fan of your CPU and POWER SUPPLY. Did they work? If yes, did the dirt on the heatsink of the cpu hide the heatsink? If yes clean it and make a test!

Are you sure you downloaded and installed the correct BIOS patch? If you installed the wrong one, it will cause it to stop.
