Blade assembly does not tighten

When I start the mower, the blade assembly is so loose that the armature spins to fast and the blade does not move. I replaced the fan, insulator, and spacer parts but that still did not get it tight. Is there a way to keep the armature from spinning. I'm really at the end of my rope with this thing.

I remove my blade for sharpening and when I tried to re-install the blade it would not tighten. The motor shaft spins freely and the blade will not tighten.

Problem could be the armature ring/ drop. it's for the bearing stopper. if the ring slip off from the grove, all you to do is to put it back to the grove & make sure that the grove are in good shape..its common problem for older armature type.

I went to the hardware store and bought a 10 cent washer. I put it underneath the nut (on top of the metal spacer) and it worked like a charm. It helped keep the armature spinning just enough to tighten the nut and keep the blade in place.

B&D CMM1200 won't start/blade doesn't spin. Fully charged & it tries to start - blade moves maybe 1/4 inch, there's a "clunk" & that's it. Blade, blade insulator & spacer replaced with no difference.

This suggest that there is something jamming the motor and stopping it from running. Assuming you have checked that the blades are clean and there is no grass build up on the underside, it means that there is something in the motor that is jamming it. This might be something that has fallen into it, or something that has broken. The only way to find out is to pull it apart and check what is jamming it.

Why is my electric Black and Decker lawn mower still vibrating and loud after I replaced the blade insulator and fan?

disconnect all power and turn the mower on the side
turn the cutter blade /base by hand and watch the centre bolt or shaft
if it moves in a bit of a circle then it indicates that the motor shaft may be bent, causing the vibration at speed

My electric lawnmower sometimes does not start, just humms. Then I TURN IT OVER, AND TURN THE BLADE A LITTLE BIT. the blade feels hard at first but soon feels loose. then it wil start as normal

The lawnmowers electric motor has a bad spot on the armature. You need to replace the electrical brushes that contact the motor. If you are lucky you may just need to clean them and reinsert them in to brush holders.

The pull start cord will only move about 3-4 inches and then it stops and then cord stops, Troy built- Briggs/Statton 21 inch self-propel lawnmower.

The mower's drive shaft may need to be lubricated. If you turn the mower over and try to move the blade by hand (with the mower off, of course) does it move, or is it hard to move? If it's hard to move or it won't move at all, lubricate the shaft by squirting some WD-40, 3-In-1, or other lubricating oil onto the drive shaft where it meets the chassis of the mower. Squirt enough oil to cover the circumference of the drive shaft, then try to spin the blade again. It should at least spin a little bit now. Squirt some more oil and spin the blade again, until the blade spins easily. Then turn the mower back over and try to pull the start cord -- it should pull normally now.

Makita 9523NB angle grinder is suddenly suffering vibration and some emitted from motor before stopping. I have replaced brushes (original brushes were hardly worn) as 1 of the springs had little tension...

You say it spins freely but is it smooth. If not it could be one or both of the bearings the armature spins on. More likely than not you have one or more fan blades broke or missing. Not much weight by themselves but at the speed these things spin the more blades broke off, the worse the vibration. You have to romove the brushes, take off the gear housing and remove the armature to check both the bearings and fan.

Craftsman 42" riding lawn mower blade free spinning but wont cut

It sounds to me that you need a new mower deck drive belt, or your blades need sharpening. If the blade edges are rounded, they won't cut butter... Also, when mower is off, check mower deck drive pulleys to make sure you don't have any that are locked up or are dragging. You can check this by pulling the belt away from pulley and spinning the pulley by hand. MOWER MUST BE OFF before attempting any of these checks. You would be surprised how many people would try this with the mower running.
Hope this helps

I need to change the blade, but am unable to loosen the nut holding the blade in place. the nut and square spacer underneath move together.

you need impact gun.air or electric operated impact, run it reverse. it shouldn't be loose like that. i am guessing the armature drop could be the ring is out of the armature groove. ring are located inside the motor assy.
