VHS TAPE IS VERY SQUEAKY AND TIGHT AND STOPS WHILE PLAYING

I answered this previously, thinking you were referring to the machine, not the tape itself. See if a different tape (perhaps even different brand) works okay. If not, look at the machine. I have seen tapes go bad, but generally it is the machine (or camcorder).

Tape is playing back in fast forward only

Hello,

It is possible the tape loaded on the wrong side of the drive. If you romove the tape, look for slack and tighten up, try it again or another tape. Otherwise it is likely that a spring for the pressure roller is off or broken. This is not easially repairable.

My tape deck doesn't play the tapes correctly. It plays them slow or doesn't play them at all. What can I do to correct this?

you either have a bad cassette motor or the belt has stretched to the point that it can't play them at normal speed will need to be changed.

JVC MX-C33 Tape Drive Problem

there are small rubber belts that drive the tape spindle that makes the tape play! Over time these stretch and become loose and make the tapes play slowly and even shut down (replace belts and it should be fine) these belts are located in back of tape spindel and are about two inches long!

Blocks of noise

Don't know about the slow motion, but the noise is usually from dirty heads. Just like a cassette player it needs them cleaned periodically. Dip a Q-tip in rubbing alcohol and rub over the entire path the tape takes. You'll see a little block that actually reads the tape. Thats what you need to clean.

Make sure you eject the tape and remove the battery while the tape drive is open to clean it. Rubbing alcohol dries fast but give it an extra ten minutes and check it again.

Video recorder while the heads were dirty will not change however new video should be clean.

You may also have a bent tape carrier that is putting your video off track. It needs to be pushed or pulled to realign it.

It it's not the cause though, this can make playing back the earlier tapes more difficult since they will read and record in a slightly different part of the tape.

Good luck!

My VCR tapes skip or only play in fast forward

If you are recording the tapes in a slow speed, then I would suspect that the tracking pulse is not being recorded properly. Since this is a new VCR, return it for an exchange. One of the recording heads is bad.

Motor plays at a very slow speed

capstan belt may be failing. check this by removing lid and touch the capstan flywheel when running. if it is easily stalled/slow to come up to speed and or the belt slipping badly then belt will require replacement.
