White sewing machine #1418 tension dial needs re assembled

I loaned to my friend my White sewing machine #1418 and she disassembled tension dial by accident. I need to re assemble. Anybody have schematics? or suggestions? Hi ,

I own a Janome Combi 10, and I've foolishly taken the tread tension dial off. Now I can't put it back on!

Can you help please? I've also included a picture of all the tension dial parts.

if you put a number in your picture like this

Its easy but you must do it exactly like what i say
A - put (1) into the handle so that the pitch goes in to the gear of the handle -make sure that (1) goes in to the handle like this shape 9
after instalation of this "check spring" , u need to bend twist it clockwise little bit so that u improvise the spring in its place (approximately 45 degree)
from now u need to hold the (1) with something so that doesnt move (screw driver or long needle )
B - (12) while u hold the "check spring" with needle , u need to open up its legs so that number (12) which is callled thread controler ( because im not familiar with terms so i explain- haha - it has two Rod, small and large Rod) small rod must go into the hole

c - (10) while u hold the "check spring" with needle , u need to open up its legs so that number (10) it goes through the handle - make sure its top hole goes into the black rod which comes out of the sweing machine - note that u must embed it in the manner that bigger peripheral put in the right hand side.

d - (5) while u hold the "check spring" with needle , u need to open up its legs so that number (5disk) goes through the handle
e - (6) while u hold the "check spring" with needle , u need to open up its legs so that number (6disk) goes through the handle
f - (11) while u hold the "check spring" with needle , u need to open up its legs so that number (11) goes through the handle
g - (9) while u hold the "check spring" with needle , u need to open up its legs so that number (9) goes through the handle - make sure its top half circle hole goes through the black rod which came out from the sewing machine.
h - (7) here you dont need to open the check spring needle . so release its leg and put the plastic male into the handle while males go in to the hole of (9)

J - (3)
K - (8)
ll - (4)

Does the bobbin on a white 1418 thread clockwise or counter-clockwise?


You can download a manual from here http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html, just type in the model number and click on 'search' to locate your machine's one.

As a rule of thumb, the thread usually comes off a bobbin goes through the tension then reverses direction back the other way. So as you pull the thread, the bobbin usually turns anticlockwise. But always check the manual to be sure.

Breaks thread after sewing about 8 feet. Thread is freyed away


try changing your tension (loosen) should be between 4-6 don't ever mess with the bobbin tension only the top, if that doesn't work change the needle, or re-threading.

If you have taken the hook out that is the half moon shape first of all make sure the needle is at the top of the machine, hook in, gate up and that is all there is to it.

Needles for white 1418


Hi. Needles come in standardized sizes, depending on what weight and type of fabric you want to sew. Your White 1418 should take any needles designed for home sewing. Check out http://www.sewitworks.com/

This site has great information on needles and which ones to use with which fabrics.

I need a manual for this machine- White 1418 sewing machine


go to singerco.com and in the drop menu pick instruction manuals then in the model number put in w 1418 and it will bring up a free manual. I lost my manual and a friend suggested this and it worked good luck
