My modem wont come on

Where is the Modem located Latoya?

Inside the eMachines desktop computer, or on the outside?
(Such as a cable Modem)

Or might this be a reference to the Router, that the Modem plugs into?

Please post back in a Comment.

My computer wont let u get on line

your statement is too general...we need to determine if the problem is at the modem or at the computer...so...check the lights at your ISP modem are all the lights on that are supposed to be on? do you have internet? do you have a router? are the lights on? (if you have a router-bypass it and connect the PC directly to the modem)

Desktop wont connect to internet but laptop will

Is your cable modem also a wireless router?

From my search on it, it is not a wireless router.

This means you need to attach a hub or a wireless router to your cable modem so that more than one computer can connect to the internet simultaneously.

Go out and buy a wireless router. Connect the wireless router to your cable modem.

Connect your desktop to the wireless router with an ethernet cable.

Then you should have internet on your desktop.

Let me know if this helps. Give me a good rating and vote for me please.

No pc connection light on netgear d834g router/modem (wired connectio)

the two reasons are
1. the cable might be damaged. if so then you cannot get the signal.
2. the light might be gone.

you can check these two errors with the following

start->run->cmd
ping <gateway's ip address> -t

if you get reply then the cable is ok and light gone.
if you don't get reply then your cable might be gone.

MY WIRELESS ROUTER WILL NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET. The lights on the front are flashing. I have installed the modem adn router disk but it still wont work.....

If you have a modem connected to a wireless router that is connected to the computer, turn all the devices off and turn them back on in this order.
1. modem
2. wireless router
3. computer

let the device start up all the way before you start the next device. (I.E. let all the lights on the modem come on before starting the wireless router and let all the lights come on on the wireless router before turning on the computer).

Hope that helps.

I have a netgear wireless router which I need to configure. Part of the process requires me to connect the router to the modem. However the modem uses a USB connection. How do I connect it to the router?

I would check you have the right router, as DSL and cable use different types routers, if you are on a DSL connection my advice would be to return the router and purchase a modem/router and do away with your modem, if you are on cable modem, you have bought a DSL modem as they have no connection for a modem.

I have an eee pc 900.i am with aliceadsl.it recognises alice but i cant connect.if i try to put in wep key either nothing happens or it says not enough digits. i cannot find how to the security key in and...

1. dissconnect the dsl modem wait 10 seconds
2. plug the power back up to the DSL modem

Thats the universal protical for reset.

3. inter your router setup page
This can be done by typing 192.168.1.1 in your browser address bar and pressing enter
consult your router documentation or website for specific numbers.
if your router wants a password or user name the default password may be "password"
( no user name required )

4. enable the wireless network in the router configuration pages.

5. enjoy having complete control of your router configuration.

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

I am trying to hook up my wireless router at a family members home, and it wont connect to the internet.

If you have settings from your home on the routher you need to RESET IT TO FACTORY. You need to REBOOT ALL the PC's in the house on that router as well to release the IP it currently has and renew with the new router. Also reboot the roter and the cable modem so it can issue a new IP to the router.
( There should be a small reset hole on the router that you can use a paper clip to reset it.)
You also need to make sure that if they have a cable modem that the router is compatible with the modem. They can call their provider for that info.
