Question about Whirlpool GS470LEM Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

Have a model SF195LEKT0 SN :RL4710391 range. The oven will not ingnite. clicks twice and then no ignition. I'm assuming it is the oven igniter gone bad. I tried to lite the broiler and still the same thing although we never used the broiler part. Is here a way to test Igniter itself? If the oven igniter goes bad will it also keep the broiler igniter from lighting? if so then it must be a bad Oven igniter if not there could it be a more serious problem like spark controller.

SOURCE: Have a GE gas range. Broiler doesn't work while

First clean the terminals at the control and check for tight wires at the incoming terminal block. Check the neutral wire for a good conection. If the ignitor reads less than 3 amps it does not have enough resistance to open the gas valve. Turn the gas off. Put a clamp on amp meter on the broil ignitor wire. Turn the broiler on. If less than 3 amps.replace the ignitor.

SOURCE: oven won't

if you can hear gas when turned on then its likely to be a faulty/dirty burner. No gas flow then its the thermostat or dependant on model a faulty gas relay/valve

Brown gas range auto ignition not working

If the problem is with all the burners then the igniter module may be defective. If this is happening only with some burners then the cable to the ignition point has become loose or is shorting with the body.

I am assuming the model number is correct but I am not finding any details for this 24 inch freestanding gas range. If the oven is electric and if it is running that means at least the electric power is reaching the unit.

I have a GE range JGB290MEN2BS. I relaced the broiler igniter p.n. WB13K21 My question is: should the ingniter continue to glow after the flame ignites. i assumed it would go off when the flame came on...

No, the igniter continues to glow. Current has to flow through the igniter to allow the main valve to open and allow the gas to flow. So the igniter will be on all the time while the broiler is operating.

I have a kenmore gas oven/range model 362.752.6190. The oven will not ignite but the range burners work great. I assume that means its the ignition system on the oven. Do you know where I can get a new...

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

If it is only 4 years old then yes it has electronic ignition and you should hear a clicking as the oven electronic igniter starts. If not the igniter module is most likely defective. Contact this website (at the link) for repair help and parts. Appliance Parts Accessories Repair Help

I replaced the ingniter and the oven still doesn't work. The stove top does. The igniter doesn't glow or anything. The model number is JGBC15GER6WH. Its a GE XL 44 oven.

Better take a look at a service manual to see if their could be a fuse before ordering a control.

Oven stop working

In many cases, even if the igniter is glowing, the resistance may not be low enough to turn on the gas valve. The igniter has probably gone bad. ($50.00 to $90.00 for igniter)

Oven won't lite but broiler/burners do

The oven will not light MANUALLY. It has an electronic igniter that (if it is bad) will not open the gas valve in order for gas to flow. This is a built in safety feature that prevents free flowing gas from accumulating your home without ignition. The igniter has to be replaced. The part costs about $50 - $60 and is fairly easy to replace. If you can provide me with your COMPLETE model number (located somewhere around the oven door opening or lower drawer opening), I can locate a part number for you. I can also give you guidance on how to replace it. It is not recommended that you try to defeat any safety features on your range, either. Post back with comments if you need further assistance. I hope this helps you.
