    Hi Taran:
I did as you suggested and tv responded as you said it would.

  • rickgamble2 Nov 06, 2010

Yes. TV responded as Taran said. Now I need to know what to do next.

  • rickgamble2 Nov 06, 2010

    Actual sequence:
    1. TV shutdown and red lamp light came on.
    2. I pressed menu and input as you said. Green Timer light blinked 6 times each in a series 10 reps
    3. Red lamp light still on.

  • rickgamble2 Nov 06, 2010

    1. Manufacture date is May 2008. We bought it in the box in October 2008.
    2. The lamp has never been replaced.

Hi,

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems, to activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/or device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times.

Let me know,so that we could Proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

These lamps tend to go after two years or so (when the warranty is
over). However, there are some other things that can cause the lamp to
    go.

Also, If the door(s) and screws that hold the lamp
inside are not placed back correctly the TV will act the same way. I
know you checked this already. However, even techs have made the
mistake of pinching a wire or not replacing a door screw on these.

If you would like to make this a DIY project. You will need the service manual to go further. Some common problems with this type of technology is the loss of the
ballast (which supplies power to the lamp). There is also a cooling fan
that can fail causing the components to overheat, blow the lamp and/or
ballast. Then there are other components related to the power supply
area, that will cause too much voltage to occur and then....Lamp or Ballast......

You will need a multi-meter, some electronic experience and some time to
sort through troubleshooting the TV. We have had some tech savvy
consumers diagnose and repair these TVs, so it can be done.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Tv picking up channels except its all static, colorless, and loud static noise..

If the set was purchased in the USA it has the USA format which is NTSC--unless the signal is NTSC picture will be in black and white and no sound.

If the signal format there is PAL OR SECAM you will need a converter that takes that and outputs NTSC for the set to work properly there.

N o picture just static noise

The symptom sounds like a dead tuner and the screen blanking may be due to missing video synchronization signals which may cause either blanking or 'blue screen' on some sets.
This could also still be because of a failing power supply although they will generally just cause no turn-on at all.
I would first substitute another TV just to be sure your signal source (cable or satellite) isn't causign the loss of signal.

What your describing sounds like two differant problems OR the power supply is causing these two problems .. One would of course be the tuner and the other would be the vertical circuit .. Your going to need to seek out a profesional if you havent a clue about solid state electronicsand A tv is not a place to experiment! Good Luck
