Question about Refrigerators

Hi, I have an electrolux ER78311 fridge freezer. The problem I have is with the fridge section. There is ice build up on the back panel at the top and the fridge motor seems to be running constantly. The temperature seems cold enough but on two occasions now we have found the milk, normaly stored in the door compartments, has gone off before its time. The door gasket seems in good condition and has been cleaned. The door also seems to close ok and make a seal. We normaly run at temp of 3 -4 setting but have now increased it to 5 to try and counteract the low temp but to no avail.

Hi,
This seems to be a classic problem of the refrigeration coils not getting defrosted properly or they are not defrosting at all.
They will then build up with ice till no air flows through them... the cold will keep the fridge cool but the temp. will not be even and it will run all of the time.
The first thing I would do is to totally defrost the whole unit....by turning it off and removeing the panels it can be derosted fairly quickly with a hair dryer... then observe the unit over the next few dyas to see if it defrosts on it's own.... if not then replace the defrost timer/control board, which ever it has...
or if the timer is working then replace the heater...

Check out these tips...they can help you figure out what is going wrong with your refrigerator and why it is not cooling

This is not normal ..The way to do it is to completely defrost it ..even at the back ...Use a hair dryer but with care ..and after you dry it good and clean ..set it to a normal temperature and see if it covers itself with ice again ...If it does..you have to check the freon level and also the compressor's coals cause this is the usually issue that makes this kinda problem ...unless it was just a long time with no defrosting and now the fan (if it has one ) is freezing and do not circulate proper the air...or the compressor just do not work proper to cool down the set temp ..

Model acd2234hrs amana is getting a lot of ice build up through outn the freezer all food in freezer has layer of ice on it

Check that the fan is running at the back of the freezer section. If it isn't, the freezer will continue to get colder but as the air is not moving around the cabinet, you get areas of ice buildup. The fan is usually at the top of the back panel, With the fridge unplugged, remove the panel in front of the fan motor. You can otherwise check if the fan is running by pressing the door switch whilst the freezer door is open. If the fridge is running, when you press the switch, the light should go out and the fan should start.

Water in refridgerator

Have a look inside fridge compartment (especially the "roof", if it's a top-mount freezer) & see if you can see any ice build-up (look inside vents that allow cold air into fridge from freezer section. Also, if top-mount freezer, look inside the freezer compartment for ice build-up on "floor", inside vents, or on back wall. These symptoms, combined with water dripping from lots of the "roof" of fridge section (in a top-mount freezer model), can mean several different problems, so best to re-post with more info/symptoms included.
If there's no ice build-up (& the dividing area between fridge & freezer sections isn't particularly cold, which otherwise might indicate hidden ice build-up), it can be as simple as a plugged or obstructed drain tube, which is VERY COMMON. Easiest solution for this latter problem is to use a flexible plastic tube (think similar type as attached to aquarium air pumps), stuff it into drain hole, and blow on the other end. Sometimes you have to blow quite hard to clear an obstruction or complete blockage. If you can't clear the drain tube, it's likely a different problem. Again, a re-post with more info/symptoms will help narrow it down.

Model # MFF2557HES Top refrigator section stoped cooling freezer is working

You may have Ice buildup in the freezer. You freezer has a fan in the bak that sends the cool air to the fridge. Your fridge dial determines how muh cold air comes from the freezer. Try defrosting the freezer. You may have to pull the back panel off of the inside of the freezer to get the ice thawed. The ice build up is likely causing the air to not get to the fridge. Hope it works.

Hi I have an electrolux Rex FI22/10NFB no frost Fridge/freezer Lately its been making ice at the bottom of the freezer and at the top in the fridge what could be the problem?

look along the door seals to ensure they lay flat agaist the body, as an air leak encorages fros/ice build up even in a frost free unit.use a hot cloth to adjust.

My father has an Electrlux ER 78311 fridge/freezer. It started icing up inside fridge and top of freezer. After we deiced it, it stopped working altogether. Still makes a noise as though it's working....

Did you deice totally or just the ice you saw. To properly deice the freezer section you have to remove the panel on the back of the freezer section and using a hair dryer remove all frost build up on the evap. coils. The most common cause of this problem in these models is the defrost t-stat going bad. Install a new defrost t-stat located on the coils and you will be good to go again. Hope this helps.

Top Freezer works fine but there is no ice building up in freezer the bottom fridge not cooling properlyThings are not as cold as they should be

Remove the back panel from the freezer to verify no ice behind the freezer panel. Look inside the air vent on the freezer panel for ice buildup. Make sure the freezer control is set to minimum not coldest freezer.. Make sure the freezer fan motor is working.

I've got an electrolux frost free fridge freezer and it is not freezing. The fridge is cool and cold air is entering the freezer compartment but it is not cold enough to freeze the food. I've removed all...

remove the back panel inside the freezer and check for ice build up on the evaporator pipework. if ice build up, this prevents air flow and hence temp rises.
remove ice carefully with a hair dryer and it should work. if problem comes back, you have a problem with the defrost system and get back to me if you want

Fridge freezer

there is a fan inside freezer behind back panel. if pipework behind panel is covered with ice, it will prevent air circulation and the fridge is affected first

take back panel off and check for ice build-up and that the fan is working
