Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

My ps3 had a corruption error and then it reset to original settings, then it found the previous users when I went through the reset up and recovered everything. ONe prblem is that anything saved before the corruption error is still there but can't get accessed. Does the fact all the users have astericks next to their names now mean anything?

It sound like you may just need to do a full format of the hard drive do to the corrupted data that is still on the drive. The link below will help you do this.

Plugged in hdmi from console to tv .went back to original cables [no signal] only works hdmi

try to reset it ..or ..open it 's settings ..using the hdmi cable ..and select the other one and restart ..after that plug the one you want to use and will work ...resetting it to the original factory settings will work too ..but will make you loose user data ..and such ..
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/2265/ps3_how_to_factory_hard_reset/
here is the video resetting and it will work too ..this way you will avoid the hard reset and loosing data ..
http://www.portfolioofpb.com/blog/ps3-blank-screen-switch-inputs-hdmi-to-composite-to-hdmi
You basically shut it down ..than when you power it up ..keep the power button pressed until you hear the second beep ..This was the signal telling you the video settings are reset . and it will work with the AV cables..

My DMR EX75EB it fails to operate and a code of U81 comes up.

This is one of several error codes generated by the main microprocessor IC which are tripped by corruption, preventing proper operation and which may require the processor to be reset (where practical) or replaced.

The U81 and U80 codes don't mean anything in particular because the corruption error could be caused by a number of different reasons. It does not point to any specific one fault. This is where the confusion sets in as to the origin of the 'error code' in any device.

U81 means (in technical terms) 'microprocessor communication malfunction' on the universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter' or 'microprocessor feedback information error'.

This is not something the user should undertake to repair themselves; it should really go to an authorised Panasonic repair centre. The cost depends on the parts used and the labour, however, it is not unfixable. You can always get a quote on this and a second opinion, then decide for yourself if it is economical or not.

I posted this 'advice' for this model previously. The DMR-EX75 and DMR-EX85 are prone to U81 - which is a common error code.

PS3 does not read the discs....

Here's two previous posts with similar problems..

This problem does not mean a disk drive2_bing.gif has broke 90% of the time, the most common issue is the ps32_bing.gif files being corrupt. To solve this problem firstly back up the data on your ps3. Go to system settings> backup and follow the appropriate settings,i advise using a usb stick or hard drive to back up your data.
Secondly under system settings go to restore ps3 and follow instructions. This will erase all the data on your ps3 and restore it to its factory default, this will restore all the original ps3 files, it will basically install the ps3 OS again.
After re- installing the ps3 install the latest updates and try your disk again.
If your ps3 now recognizes a disk go back to system setting> backup, select restore previous back up and all your saved data will be imported from the hard disk. Sony2_bing.gif does state that not all saved data can be imported e.g.copy righted content, however i faced no problems and was able to access all saved data including saved games2_bing.gif when restoring.
If this solution does not work contact song for further assistance, if this solution does not work it is likely to be hardware support, usually the lens that reads the disk, sony will instruct you on who to contact to repair the fault machine. When out of warranty their is usually a cost unless it is recognized manufacturing fault.

I have the now famouss problem myself and reading about it made me realise that there are a lot of people living this hell. I want to make an official list of player having this problem to see the magnitude of it.

The problem beiing: You played mw2 (or another game) with the latess update installed on your ps3 and at some point it froze. tried pressing the PS button but nothing happened. You had to hold the power button to reset it or resolve to switch the back switch off/on. Only to get this same problem over and over again. you can t play blu ray2_bing.gif on your ps3 and/or get the error 80010514. from time to time it will play those blu ray only to start the whole problem again.

your blu ray lens is not dead.. the problem seems to come from another part. It could be a corrupted SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE caused by Sony's 'Online' Updates.

My Playstation 3 will not start. It keeps coming up with an error message saying, "Cannot start. Correct hard disk is not found." Any ideas why?

Yes, You need to re-format your hard drive via your laptop or purchase a new hard drive.. sometimes they become invalid/corrupt and you need to reset it or put a new one in.. I suggest taking it out and put it back in to see if it was knocked loose if not then you need a new hd! a 60gb ps3 original via eba is 40$

File system hard disc corrupted

the better choice is...

buy a new hd and replace it, the original go bad quick.
replacing it resolve all of corrupt problems.

sometimes, you repair it,then when going to save a game, the ps3 freezes.
