The actual switch that detects whether the memory card is in write protect or not inside the camera is probably stuck in the "write protect" position. With a flashlight, inspect the switch in the memory card compartment.

My memory card keeps saying it is in write protection and I keep flipping the switch on the side but it doesn't work, how do I fix it?

The write protection is initiated by your camera, not the lock switch on the side of the card. Check your manual for the procedure to cancel write protection.

Saying memory card protected. how can i unprotect it?

On some SD/SDHC memory cards, there is a small "switch" on the side that says 'Lock' and 'Unlock', it's there to protect your files just in case. All you have to do is flip the small tab to unlock and you should be able to access your files.
If the tab has gone missing or broke off, here's a guide on how to fix it. Cheers!

The message is memory is write protected please help me. thankyou

Hi,

This usually means that the switch for write protection has been flipped on the memory card itself. To resolve this, open the memory door and remove the memory card. There will be a small switch on the card, flip it to the off position (opposite of its current state) and reinsert the card into the camera.

What does it mean when the camera says protected card

It means that the memory card is write-protected.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Look on the memory card - is the lock switch in the "Lock" position? If so, unlock it.

My DSE memory card says 'write protected'

Hi there, do this:
To fix this, remove the SD card from your camera. Look on the side and you will find a little switch. One end of the switch says locked the other end says unlocked. Move the switch from locked to unlocked. Replace it in your camera and turn it back on.

What does write protect mean?

"Write Protect" means that something is locked and your device (camera) cannot "write" to it's storage area.
What type of "storage media" are you using?
For example:  the camera's internal memory, a CompactFlash card, a Memory Stick, an "xD-Picture Card" (micro, mini or regular sized), or a Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard.
[Did you put something  (a small plastic card of some sort) into a slot on the camera before or after turning it on?
Those little cards usually have a tiny button (also called a switch or lever) on them that will move back and forth to lock (write protect) or unlock it. This sounds like the memory card inside your camera is locked or "Write Protected.

To fix this simply take it out, closely examine the memory for the button- the button will be closer to the word "lock" or "protect" and all you need to do is gently slide it in the opposite direction from where it currently is. Put it back into the camera and see if it still says "Write Protect."

Let me know...

Check to see if the lock tab has been put in the lock position. If yes then slide to the unlock position.

Memory card is write protected

thought the cards have a little tab on them so they can be "write protected" it is a little plastic tab on the side of the memory1.gif card you slide up and down. I know most SD cards1.gif have it, CF cards dont so if its anything besides SD memory its probobly the memory card or some little switch or somthing in the camera that tells the camera when the card is in the "Locked" or "Write protected" mode.

Looking at my SD memory cards1.gif they have a little arrow on the edge and they say "Lock" pointing down, the slider is up. Move yours both ways, maybe it has a bad connection in the card (im not sure what it actualy does) or its in a position the camera thinks its locked?
