I think I have the same problem. I let my battery go down then it stayed uncharged for maybe a month. My computer doesnt see the device when its plugged into the USB port. It receives a charge but wont synch to Windows Media Player.

I have somehow the same problem, but mine is when I connect the usb cable to my Zen Micro, It just freezes and it seems that the computer doesn't see it. No yellow Question Mark (?) on my devices as well.

It looks like you need to restore the firmware on this players. There is a firmware utility. http://us.creative.com/local/1/firmware/zenmicro/eula.asp. Sometimes though the creative player will not even be recognized by the firmware utility. Listen to the player and make sure the hard drive spins. If it does you can send it to a Creative Zen Repair service. They will take the hard drive out and write the firmware directly to the hard drive to get you up and running again.

I have a Zen Vision M 30G when i plug it in i get a malfunction error and the USB does not recognize it, It does however charge and everything works properly on the Zen

was their any software that came with the device to download. If you have it plugged in to a receivers usb port, check with the receivers ability to read the device, some only handle up to 2Gs. If plugged into usb on computer your device should aquire software to make it recognizable.

Firmware problem

See the solution for PC not recognizing your player. You should downgrade to WMP10 by uninstalling WMP11 and WMP11 runtime. Uninstall portable device drivers from System menu and restart the computer. Replug the USB and the player should now be recognized.

Computer doesn't recognize device is plugged in.

Hi,
try aa different USB Port if your computer Has One.
Turn the power On The MPEG Player on and off when it,s Connected.
If this does,nt help.
Replace your USB lead, it is possibly broken internally, or player fault.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
