Hello,

The soap trap and its cap covers the soap in your dishwasher after you fill it and then swings open to dispense the soap when the wash cycle starts. If your dishes aren't getting clean or you notice the soap trap door is still shut after the dishwasher finishes a load, it may indicate a problem with the soap trap you'll need to fix.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

  • Dishwasher soap cap replacement,Screwdriver,Multimeter.
  1. 1 Open the lid of the soap trap and clean out any leftover soap. Soap and detergent, especially the inexpensive brands, can clump together and harden inside the soap trap instead of releasing into the water during the wash cycle. Change to a different soap and run the dishwasher again. See if the clumps disappear and if this solves the problem.
  2. 2 Remove the old dishwasher soap trap cap and replace with a new one. The plastic cap should slide or pop off. The instructions for the new cap should instruct you how to slide or pop it back into place. A new cap may solve the problem if the cap is not opening during use.
  3. 3 Turn off power to the dishwasher by either turning off power at the circuit breaker panel box or moving the unit out from the counter and disconnecting it from the power supply. Always do this when working inside the dishwasher to avoid electrocution.
  4. 4 Open the dishwasher door and remove the screws to take off the front paneling. Leave the screws holding the bottom hinges to the door in place to keep the door itself from falling off. Depending on your model, you may need to remove some clasps as well. Your goal is to gain access to the inside of the door and control panel so you can see the different knobs and buttons, and can fix the parts controlling the soap trap.
  5. 5 Locate your soap trap. Close the soap trap cap and insert a screwdriver to push on the metal piece -- called a bi-metal switch -- connected to the soap trap cap until the cap swings open. If the metal looks out of place and the cap doesn't swing open like it should, push the metal back into place with the screwdriver and try again. If this does not fix it, remove the metal piece and replace with a new one.

If you can't find the metal piece, your dishwasher may use a wax motor assembly instead. Located near the soap trap cap, it's typically a small red or maroon colored plug with a small black rod sticking out of the end. Remove the wax motor for testing if you don't have a bi-metal switch.
  6. 6 Locate the round timer motor inside your dishwasher. Refer to your dishwasher's instruction manual for help identifying the different parts. Typically, the timer motor is a round piece with holes in it, and may be located near the timer control on the dishwasher itself. Remove the timer motor from the dishwasher.
  7. 7 Test the timer motor and wax motor assembly using a multimeter .Choose one of the motors to test and place one probe from the multimeter to one wire of the motor and the other probe to the other wire. For the timer motor, Part Select.com suggests setting the multimeter to the "x1000" ohms setting and you should get a reading of 2000 to 3500 ohms. If your reading is significantly different, the part is bad. For the wax motor assembly, set to the "x1" ohms setting and touch the probes to the wires. If the screen shows the infinity symbol, the motor is bad. Replace either part as needed.

HOPE THIS HELP?

Thanks.

How to clean a coin trap?

Thanks for your post, friend!

I understand that you looking for steps on how to clean the coin trap on your Frigidaire washer. Here are the steps to access the coin trap.

· Assure power has been disconnected to your appliance.

· Tilt the unit up to where the front feet are in the air and the back feet are still on the ground. Please make sure it is tilted up safely.

· Look inside on the bottom right hand side there is a black accordion piece. This is the screen trap or coin trap.

· Have towels available with you because any access water will come out.

· At the top of the coin trap where it is attached to the drum you will notice a silver spring and screw. Loosen the screw and wiggle the coin trap out.

· Clean the trap and follow these steps in reverse to reassemble your washer.

Best of luck! -Matt

Is the food trap removable for cleaning?

Try a shop vac, it should suck it clean. I would suggest rincing the dishes before putting in the dishwasher but then what would you expect a Dehumidifier guy say!

How do I clean the trap filter inside my Electrolux Front loader

Good Morning Deanna - Sounds like you are speaking about the Coin Trap. Below are some basic troubleshooting steps you may wish to follow to clean the trap:
· Unplug the unit.
· Remove the bottom front access panel. There are two screws one on right and one on the left towards the bottom of the front panel.
· Now that the panel is removed look inside on the bottom right hand side there is a black looking accordion thing. This is the coin trap.
· Clean the drum out with as much water as possible that you can remove and have towels ready. The next step you will have the remaining water come out of the bottom of the drum and onto the floor.
· At the top of the coin trap where it is attached to the drum is a silver spring with a silver screw. Loosen the screw and wiggle the coin trap down from the drum.
· Reach inside the coin trap and clean what is inside of it out.
· Put the unit back together following the same steps backwards.
Hope this information proves to be helpful!

How do i service the grease trap without calling a service man to do it?

Be clear that an in-ground grease interceptor cannot be cleaned without a grease trap pumping company. We are referring to a metal grease trap that sits under the 3-compartment sink. Yes it can be cleaned by anyone (crazy enough). I still suggest a professional service company perform the task. I have full directions or instructions now at www.greasetrap.ca/grease-trap-cleaning.htm . Old clothes and a mask are a must.

I can't put the lint trap back into the slot it is supposed to be in. Have been using this dryer all day. I cleaned the lint trap out and it still won't slide back in. The lint trap is on top of dryer....

You probably have lint buildup inside the machine. try reaching inside it with a brush or something to clean it out. Also, it may be dusty, but run it for a few seconds with the lint trap out. That may blow the obstruction out.
