Question about Samsung DVD-V4600 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

DVD stopped working and cannot do setup.

I was watching my new "Carrier" DVD I just got in the mail. Anyway, everything was fine for 25 minutes and then the frame freezed. I waited and then I pressed stop.

Then I pressed eject on the DVD player and ejected the dvd. I then loaded the dvd again and I waited. The lights when over the "Loading" over and over again and then the screen said " Cannot load disk or something wrong with disk, the disk cannot be played, check disk. Nothing was wrong with this disk, but just in case, I started loaded other disks. I received the same message for all the other disks.

I unplugged the t.v and the vcr/dvd, waited again and the replugged. I was able to get the setup to set the time, however, after that, the setup would not work. Now I have two problems. I cannot look at the dvds and I cannot program anything. I thought I had it for a moment, but then I tried it after I programmed the clock and I got: when I press the menu button on the remote control: "For the setup , Please wait then try again".

I can look at my VHS tapes, but I cannot record anything, because I cannot program anything and now I cannot look at my DVDs.

What happened?

Thanks

You probably need to reset your DVD/VCR/Combo. Go to www.samsung.com. Go to <Support>. In the search box, type in the model of your DVD/VCR/Combo. Or type in, >how to reset DVD/VCR/Combo<. Each model has different reset method and there are hundreds of models!

853. How To Reset Your Samsung DVD Player STEP 1
STEP 1. DVD Reset List
Samsung DVD players have a built-in reset procedure that resets the DVD player to the factory defaults. You can use the reset procedure to reset settings that don’t work with your TV or to resolve issues such as unit lock up. To run the reset procedure, you press one or more buttons on the front of the DVD player and hold them for at least fifteen seconds. The buttons your press depend on the model you have.
Important: For the reset procedure to work, you must press the buttons on the front of the player, not on the remote control for the player.
Below is a list of all Samsung DVD players and the buttons to press to run the reset procedure.
DVD511 - Stop / Play
DVD611 - Stop / Play
DVD709 - Stop / Play....

Many, many other models follow but cannot be listed here because of this site's text limitations.

Good luck!

Hello, again. The Problem: "For the setup please wait then try again." If resetting using Solution 1 (3/22/10) does not enable you to use the Setup Menu, this a second Samsung Support recommendation:

    ----Start Samsung Support recommendation-----

DVD players : I Cannot Get The Setup Menu From My DVD Player To Appear On My TV Screen.

    If your DVD
    player
is connected with only the coaxial connection, you may not be able to access
the Set Up menu. You must connect your DVD player using the RCA connection
or any other available connection besides coaxial.

    After doing so,
ensure that your TV is in the correct video source. If you still cannot
see the menu, reset the unit. Click
    here
to view how to reset the DVD player

    Note: If the
word "menu" appears on the front panel of the DVD Player, but you
cannot see the menu on the screen, the problem is within the connection
or the video source on your television.

    -----end Samsung Support recommendation------

    The reset solution sounds easiest!

    Good luck.

Not receiving a TV signal through the DVD recorder and cannot record programs or watch TV through the DVD recorder

Firstly you must have a good connection from your antennae to the dvd recorder, secondly a good connection between recorder and tv
via scart lead or hdmi. Check these out before you do anything else.

Have you tried unplugging the DVD player and letting it sit for a couple of minutes? If that doesn't work try holding the power button as you unplug/plug the machine.

Dub VHS to DVD

I am not sure why the DVD recorder is stopping after 25 mins of recording. However, once a disk is finalized all the remaining space is unrecordable. That is why your computer is showing the disk as full. The same applies when finalizing a CD. As for the first problem, check to see what record speed you are using. XP is 1 hr, SP 2hr and so on. But stopping after 25 minutes is weird. Even if you use a quick record button, (aka OTR) the recording is usually done in 30 minute increments. Try it again. If it still is only recording for 25 minutes, you may want to contact the manufacture's customer service or tech support. Hope it helps.

You have the rating set on your DVD player to lower than the rating of the movie you are trying to watch.

Somewhere in your setup menu of your DVD player (press the "setup" button on the remote with disc stopped or no disc) you will find a place to set the parental lock. Either turn it off, if that is an option, or set it to the rating of the movie (or higher) to enable viewing.

Sometimes this unit gets "confused" - not sure why -- but try first using a CD cleaning disk and let it start and stop a couple times (sometimes lens gets dirty and does this) - if that doesn't help then try unplugging unit and leave unplugged (from wall socket) for about 30min then plug in, set local time and then see if the disks play okay - sometimes this "resets system"
