Question about Frigidaire 24 in. FDB1050REC Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

FDB105OREC4 My dishwasher is not cleaning my dishes. I push the start button and water seems to be trickling in then it stops and no sounds protrude from the machine for several minutes. Eventually another loud motor seems to turn on and drain the water out of the machine. The soap dispenser usually opens and the soap block that usually dissolves is setting on the bottom of the machine. It seems the water is plenty hot but the rotating washer arms might not be moving. Please help me find the part or parts I need to replace.

SOURCE: Dishes are not clean due to insufficient water

Disassembled solenoid, found plugged inline strainer (caused by water shut-down in building to replace recirc. pump) Pulled and flushed filter basket, problem solved. Solenoid must be removed to access filter which is in sol. body. I hope this can help anyone who does'nt have a tech manual or flow diagram.

SOURCE: Washer arm not rotating

It seems that your motor on the dishwasher is going out, like mine has just done. First, it seemed that my dishes were not getting cleaned also. My explanation is that you will soon hear a humming noise as if the motor is stuck. My Dishwasher sounds like something is grinding on glass or as if a bunch of mice are making noise. Eventually, the motor will not run any more. What will happen is that the dishwasher will fill up, then make a loud humming noise, while the heating element is making the water near the heating element sizzle. Now what you have is a possible fire hazard which compounds the problem with the dishwasher. I have also heard of other parts going bad on this model. I used to sell Maytag appliances, but Maytag is not like they used to be.I heard that all the appliances are now being made by 2 or 3 different companies, as if Kenmore and Maytag teamed up, and now are trying to create a poor product which breaks down, so right after the warranty, you have to buy another product from them. I believe Ford used to intentionally make a car part break down so as to give the mechanic work in the future. I believe the same idea with Maytag and the repair people is being followed. Either become an appliance repairman or get rid of it, take the loss, learn a lesson and live like my grandmother used to, without having a dishwasher. That is the best advice I can give you.

SOURCE: GE Nautilus Soap does not dissolve

The Water Inlet Valve is not Working. This is a small piece at the bottom of the dishwasher where the inlet hose connects to. The Valve is stuck and water will not enter the dishwasher itself. Of course this is one of the most expensive pieces of the dishwasher to replace!

SOURCE: Kitchenaid dishwaser poor cleaning KUDS24SE

There are 2 likely candidates. The first is the chopper - the device that grinds up the food. The second is the check valve - a rubber flapper that sets to the right of the chopper. Over time it becomes stuck open which reduces pressure at the spray arms.

Good luck - I had the same issue on my KUDR01J.

SOURCE: Dishwasher is not cleaning dishes.

you need to check to see what the temps of you water going into the unit is. it needs to be atleast 120 degrees. if not your unit may be waiting to heat the water, until it does then it wont go into the next cycle. it could be the heat cycle is not working so that would cause the unit to not advance.
let the unit run thru the place you think its stopping, but not more then 2 hours. if its not advancing then you might have a bad heating element.

Dishwasher not washing or drying dishes properly

F7 - Flow meter failure
Water inlet valve (WVI) is switched on and water indicator (WI) is on (full).
  • Flow meter (FM) sends too few impulses (less than 10 imp. in 10 sec.).
  • Water tap closed during water inlet
  • Water inlet hose blocked
  • Water inlet valve (WV1) defective
  • Flow meter (FM) defective
To erase the failures, you must push the start button longer than 1,5 seconds.

Not cleaning dishes

Sounds like you are back to the old fashioned dish washing in the sink. If you need assistance, be more exact as to the problem at hand. Like it fails when I push the start button, the water won't fill the unit?

Dishes and glasses not clean, seems like spray bars not turning water seems plenty ,no clogged filters

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

Kitchenaid dishwasher will not fill. Water does

First make sure your water inlet isn't plugged, then check that your solenoid is opening fully, unless this is an old model and you have calcium buildup throughout the machines plumbing I'd bet a new solenoid will fix you right up.

Whirlpool Dishwasher won't drain during normal cycle

As you say a clogged line or valve does not make sense.

Try running it without the heated drying and see if it empties or if the cancel button will work then.

The dishes should air dry quickly if you empty it and open the door.

It could be a defective thermostat allowing it to get too hot during the heat cycle
