Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Hello my air conditioner is not blowing cold air. It seems like only the fan is working. I set the temp to between 16-18 celcius and the temp that is showing is 28 celcius. Also is showing E5 on the ac small screen. It was serviced about 3 weeks ago and was working fine. This problem started about 2 days ago. Nothing has changed and nothing has been tampered with. Hope you can help Thanks :)

What did they do when it was serviced? It sounds like there may be a leak if it does not get cold at all anymore.Although, lasting 3 weeks, depending on how much you used it,it would be a very tiny hole leaking. The other most likely suspect would be the thermocouple went bad.It senses what the temperature is,compares it to what you would like to be,and enables/disables the air conditioner accordingly. The E5 code I cannot look up right now because you did not list the make and model. If you post that,I will get an autolink to your answer and check it out.Greg

Maytag m6x06f2a like new but doest blow cold air

Make sure the Thermostat is set correctly! The problem with mine was the temp in the house was colder than my A/C lowest thermostat setting.I had my AC temp setting on 66 degrees. The temp in the house was a little lower so the AC didnt kick on just the fan blowing cool air and no compressor working. The next day it was warmer out and the house temp was 79. So when I powered up the AC set at 66 i heard the compressor kick in and the AC worked fine.

I have a ruud ubhc-17j11sfd that does not blow cold air. it blows room temperature air only. the unit seems to run ok and the outside fan runs ok also. The filter is cleaned and the thermostat is set to...

Hello, if the airflow seems good and the unit is clean it is possible that the unit has a low refrigerant charge due to a leak, if you have a thermometer measure the return air and the supply air, tjen find the differance between the two, if it is below 15 then the unit is undercharged and will neec to be recharged.

My Samsung model RB1855sl shows the temperatures for the fridge and freezer in celcius. Can you tell me what appropriate temps would be for them to be working? I loaded up with gorceries a few days ago,...

the freezer should be arond -20 degrees celcius and the fridge aroud 5 degrees celcius
There could be a problem with air flow
the fan in the freezer has probably stopped or the air flow into the fridge is probably blocked
You could have a defrost problem. this would allow ice to build up in the freezer blocking off ai flow.
A technician can help you with that

Bad sequencer. An a/c tech will have to replace this sequencer due to the complications of installation.

Our air conditioner seems to be working fine yet t won't blow cold air. Its just room temp air actually feels like you're standing in front of a small fan.

check outside unit large pipe should be cool or even very cold small pipe should be warm to touch that will eliminate some questions in order to solve problem also check circuit breaker for outdoor unit see if fan on outdooor unit is running and listen for compressor hum

Window unit air conditioner kicks in only when its really hot out

I would consider replacing the t'stat if it does not seem to cycle at the desired temps. Also, the outside air allows fresh air to be introduced into the conditioned space but it will also effect, to a degree, the units ability to cool the conditioned space. Once you get the unit running, try it with the baffle on and closed and see which one you like. Remember, the outside air has and add humidity and can make it seem hotter than it really is in the room.

Air compressor does not kick in unless ambient temp is > 80

Do not operate low fan and maximum temperature as the coils will freeze up stopping air flow.

Ruud Heat Pump blows room temp on Heat and AC setting

A "Heat-Pump" is also known as a reverse cycle air conditioner, this means on heat the outdoor unit acts like the indoor section and vice versa. So in all probability you need to have it leak checked and recharged.
