Question about Tomtom ONE 3rd Edition GPS

1 Answer

I have a Tomtom Version 6.501(7460/060904). I recently changed the baterry charger but now it is not charging. I tried charging on AC power. It shows the green light is on and I can see in the screen that it is charging. Yet, it remains uncharged at the end with no bar or line. I can even not switch it on again as the power does not come at all as the battery is uncharged. I have reset it but with no success. Please, can you help. Many Thanks

SOURCE: TomTom 500 won't power EITHER!!!!

Guys make sure you know where the reset button is . Ie for tomtom 500 it is at the back and you have to unclip from the adapter.

SOURCE: GPS Won't Turn On

My 510 was doing the exact same thing.
I called customer support and they helped me get it working again.
866-486-6866 is the number but here is what they had me do.
I had to push down the reset button for 15 seconds (the reset is in a small cut out near where you plug in the charger on the bottom.you will need to use a pin and you will feel the pin push in the button if you have it in the right spot.)
Then release the reset and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds. the screen should come right back on.
If you need more help I suggest calling the 866# they are very helpful.

SOURCE: Tomtom go 730 will not power up.Brand new, used a coupla weeks.

you need to do a hard restart. find tiny hole on under side by bracket mount and press it with a tiny paper clip once. you have to look very very close to see it. you can also try to hold down on power button for 5 to 6 sec.

Acer laptop 4730z wont power up

Hello. There is a hardware failure with the laptop not your acer 4730 AC charger. AC chargers have some range of protections of their own. If the power requirements of the laptop are bigger then what the charger can handle, the charger will turn off. Also other parameters can bring the charger offline. In your case, you have a problem with a small chip, the battery charge controller unit, witch regulates the amount of current required to propperly charge the battery. When this thing fails, the charging requirements for the battery are reported rong and the AC charger is forced to give more power then necesary. This results in disconnection of the AC charger ( an internal fail safe of the AC charger) and the laptop to swich back to battery power. When the laptop is turned off, it can charge the battery because the power requirements are low, having all processor, main board, hard disk etc turned off. Therefore the AC charger can handle the load. However you will need to have it checked by a service center as it is a hardware fault. Both AC charger and laptop needs that check. The charge controll circuit needs to be replaced probably. It will be a somewhat expensive repair. Don't buy any other battery untill you have the laptop checked.

My nokia 5130 charging slot does no more 'hold' the charger. I could not charge the battery. Is there any thing I can do? I recently have a previous nokia 5130 phone with the same problem...

here in the philippines, we have a "universal charger" where in you can take out the battery and put it on the universal charger and plug it to the outlet. it's best for your problem. however, if the said exchange that you have said here is part of a warranty then you still had the same problem with the same particular phone, i think you better go to the store where you purchased that phone and talk to them regarding the same old problem. and ask them if they can exchange a different unit for you because tell them that you are not satisfied with the performance of that unreliable and not so durable gadget and its accessories. make a deal with them. convince them. don't let them manipulate you to just accept something that is really not acceptable.

How can I charge my Tomtom GPS 550 at home using a USB to my PC ? Or can it be charged only in the Car using the Car Charger ? How long should it take to fully charge using USB & also on Car Charger ?...

i dont believe it can chagre via usb as usb only provides up to 5v of power you can buy from walmart a cheap ac to car adapter (makes your ac outlet a cig lighter adapter) and power it that way.

TomTom will not charge with car charger

Mine does the same, the light comes on on the charger, but not on the TomTom unit itself. There is clearly a loose connection in the cable somewhere as you can twist the flex and make it work, although this is not very reliable.

I just use a USB charger from an old phone instead.

1= My battery is flat, but when i put it on charge in the house it doesnt charge and no green light comes on, on my sat nav why would this be?

Could be your house charger is bad or the power connector on the back of the Tomtom is bad.

2= But when i put it in car charge it works perfect 'Y'?

You are using the "power shoe" to charge the battery. For a test unplug the power cord from the power shoe and hook it to the back of the Tomtom. If this work then the house charger is bad. If this doesn't work then the Tomtom rear power connector is bad

3= If ever i have to change battery how is this done?

You will have to remove the faceplate and disassemble the Tomtom in order to get to the battery. Or you can find a shop that repairs small electronic. Find the battery on Ebay.
