Hi,

F4 is typically related to a drainage problem.
If the water is not draining from your dishwasher, verify the following:

Verify that there is not a clog in the drain hose or air gap. This is typically the reason that a dishwasher won't drain and the clog is usually where the drain hose attaches to the garbage disposal or sink drain pipe. Remove the hose and clear any clogs, then reinstall.

Verify that the pumps drain impeller is working. You can reach the impeller from inside the dishwasher after removing the lower rack, spray arm, and arm support. This typically involves removing a few screws. Once upper parts are removed, inspect the drain impeller, which pushes the water toward the drain port, for any cracks or missing blades. If the impeller is defective, the water will not drain properly and you would need to replace it. Inspect the sump area for any debris or broken glass that could be blocking any ports.

Verify that the drain valve is working; many are controlled with an electric solenoid that opens the valve, sending the water to the drain. There is a chance that the solenoid or the diverting lever could be stuck which would prevent the water to drain. If so, try to free up the solenoid and lubricate the lever. Otherwise the solenoid or pump assembly may have to be replaced.

Verify that the motor is turning/ working and verify that there is power to the motor. If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced. Motors can get stuck if not used regularly. If the motor is defective, the water will not drain and you would need to replace it.

There are ways to test the pump and motor with a multimeter. If you are not comfortable with doing this, you may want to have a plumber test it for you.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Does anyone know what the F4 fault is on my kitchen aid dishwasher? I can reset it and then start over or select another program, although after approx 1 minute the F4 error code comes up and I cannot see...

Check the drain hose. When you turn on a dishwasher, the first thing that it does is check the pump. If there is a drain issue then it stops.

Constant beep, stops and switch to rinse program

Can be related to a fault in the program controller unit as none of the preset programs are working bbut the fault appears universal in all the programs.
The best you can do is to remove the panel and reset, check on the inlet valve and the sparying arms and pump. check for clogging in the drain or the pump which seems to set off the alarm.

My dishwasher whirlpool wp 79 lympia keeps on beeping due to a drainage block. But now I can't stop it beeping or to reset the dishwasher in order to start the program from scratch

Unplugthe power cord to your dishwasher. You can do this by manually removing thedishwasher from the wall and unplugging it, or you can flip the power switch toyour kitchen at the circuit breaker (although you will need light to drain thedishwasher hose). 2 Put on your gloves, and, using your screwdriver, unscrew the screws from the kick plate of yourdishwasher. The kick plate is the panel just below the door of your dishwasher.3 Place your bucket on the floor in front of the dishwasher. 4 Unhook the drainhose by pinching the ends of the clamp and sliding it down the hose. Remove theother end from the pump. There will be two hoses in your dishwasher. The drain hoseis the one that leads from the pump to the underneath of your kitchen sink. 5 Pointthe hose into your bucket to drain any debris. Twist and scrunch the hose tohelp remove the waste. 6 Test the hose by running water through it, and thenreattach your hose in the same manner in which you detached it from yourdishwasher.

F4 indicates draining failure.Your washer drain pump starts and after 4 minutes the OWI(optical water indicator) detects that mashine is 'not empty'

Posible mailfunction reasons:
The drain pump must be defective/blocked
The siphon would have got closed
The control board would have got damaged
OWI defective
