Make sure your have a USB 2.0 port. Go to system hardware list and see if the USB device indicates "Enhanced". If not you may need to change the drive for a USB 1,0 compatible drive.

Computer Won't Recognize The Device

If your trying to connect a device via usb to your computer and it isn't being recognized; The best thing to do is go the manufacture's website of the device, look under download or support tab and download the latest version of the driver

The driver is what lets the computer recognize the device.

Download the driver, then double-click on the file so it will install itself on your computer. Once the driver is installed, restart pc, turn on your device and finally connect your cable

Not recognized device

Try another socket as the device may be too slow to be read on the PC, please do try the same device on another pc for consistency.

When I Connect My Aiptek 8100 camera to the PC, they show a message "USB device not recognized." Is this because I did not install it's driver? If so please tell me where I can find the driver?

Usually usb device not recognized is due to damaged usb cable or usb port..use a different usb cable and connect it to your pc, if your usb cable is ok then connect it to a different usb port. if the problem in not with the usb cable or port install driver from the cd you got with camera. if you dont have that cd download driver from the device manufacturer site.

USB device not recognized

This solution worked for me when I got the USB device not recognized message:

It can be quite frustrating. I've heard that older computers are more likely to have the USB device not recognized message.

Try another USB port or another computer altogether. For some reason there are some drives that some computers see and others that they dont.

Hope this helps
