Greetings starrmom,

If you are looking for a copy of your performance service plan, you can obtain a brochure either by talking to your local store, or contacting the corporate office at 1-888-BESTBUY.

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

Dorothy

Hey starrmom,

If you are looking to obtain a Best Buy Performance Service Plan (PSP) for your iPod, you will need to return to your local Best Buy™ store for assistance. Only our stores are able to provide customers with PSP coverage at this time, and the PSP must be purchased within 30 days of the iPod itself.

Please keep in mind that you may need to have a copy of your receipt or order confirmation page handy to obtain PSP coverage for your iPod. While Best Buy™ stores can generally track check and debit/credit card purchases, there is no guarantee that we are able to track cash purchases if you have lost your receipt.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

if other type unit like home entertainment or car audio, you can obtain parts for the unit and service it yourself, i suggest you obtain a service manual prior to continuing and you better have a good knowledge of electronics

I gave my girlfriend my old laptop computer & recently bought her a classic i-pod, I managed to download the music from the copmputer originally, but recently tried to add another CD which she wanted...

You need to authorize and deauthorize the computers appropriately for using the different ipods on different machines.
Read this article from apple web site.

Deauthorizing a computer allows you to manage which computers can play music, videos, audiobooks, or other content purchased from the iTunes Store.
Authorization helps protect the copyrights on the content you buy. You can use your digital rights management (DRM)-protected music purchases1 from the iTunes Store on up to five different computers (these can be any mix of Macintosh or Windows-compatible computers). When you play an item you've purchased, your computer is "authorized" to play content purchased using your Apple Account.
Note: Songs you encode in AAC format from a source other than the iTunes Store, such as your own audio CDs, and songs from iTunes Plus downloads do not need to be authorized.
Products Affected iTunes Store
To authorize a computer to play purchases using your Apple Account
  1. Select a song, video, or audiobook you've purchased (in your library or the Purchased playlist).
  2. Click the Play button.
If the computer is already authorized, the item plays. If the computer has not yet been authorized, iTunes asks you to enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the song.
Remember to deauthorize your computer before you sell it, give it away, or get your computer serviced.
To deauthorize a computer
  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Choose Store > Deauthorize Computer (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
  3. Select "Deauthorize Computer for Apple Account" and enter your Apple ID and password.
Make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations.
To deauthorize all computers associated with your account If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen.
  1. Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
  2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
  3. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
  4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers, or if you have used this option within the last 12 months. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact the iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww/).

Additional Information
  • iTunes DRM-protected music includes audio with a bit rate of 128 kbps and allows users to transfer songs and videos to up to five computers, burn seven copies of the same playlist to CD, and sync to an unlimited number of iPods.
  • iTunes Plus music refers to songs and music videos available in our highest-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding (twice the current bit rate of 128 kbps), and without digital rights management (DRM). There are no burn limits and iTunes Plus music will play on all iPods, Mac or Windows computers, Apple TVs, and many other digital music players.
  • While you may need to enter your account information again after initializing or formatting your hard disk, initializing or formatting the hard disk itself does not remove the computer from the list of authorized computers. If you plan to initialize or format your hard disk prior to selling or donating your computer, deauthorize the computer first, then initialize or format the hard disk.
  • Under some circumstances you may be required to enter your registration information again, but this should not use up multiple authorizations. If you think that you may have used up multiple authorizations on just one computer, see One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations.
  • The iTunes Store is governed by its Terms of Service, which permits Apple to change the authorization policy.
  • You can authorize computers not located in the United States so you can play previously purchased music.
  • An Apple ID based on an expired .Mac (pronounced "dot Mac") or Mobile Me account name and password can still be used to purchase items and to authorize or deauthorize computers to play purchased music.
See the following documents for additional information:

Do you have to have a router to connect your ipod to internet

No you do not require a router to connect your I pod to the internet.

If you wish to load the songs on the I Pod, you can first look for songs on the internet and save them to your computer.
Then you can connect the I POD to the compuet via the USB cable which you would have received with the I pod.

Please connect the usb cable one end on the I pod and the other to the
the computer. The moment you connect the I POD to the computer, the system will detect the IPOD player. You can then save the copy of songs you have downladed on your I POD player.
You can select the sond saved on your compuet by doing a CTRL+C key and then go to MY COMPUTER> and under the drives section it will show your I POD PLAYER. CLICK ON THE PHILIPS PLAYER TO GO INSIDE SO THAT YOU CAN DO A CTRL+V and copy the songs on the I POD player.

That should do the trick and you shoudl be able to listen to your favourite songs on the move.

Please rate me if you are happy with the support provided.

Zune

Hey ninasky,

If your Zune is currently defective or in need of repairs, there are a couple of things that you can do to obtain service:

First of all, you may always contact the manufacturer directly for assistance. Many manufacturers are able to provide over-the-phone troubleshooting and diagnostics free of charge while you are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, but may request payment for these services if you are outside of this coverage. To contact Microsoft, you may either call 877-GET-ZUNE (877-438-9863) or visit http://www.zune.net/en-US/support if you prefer an online, self-service option. This website also has a direct link to Microsoft's Knowledge Base, which has tips, tricks and solutions to many common problems with Microsoft products.

Second, you may always contact your local Microsoft-authorized repair facility to obtain an on-site diagnostic. You can even speak with a Geek Squad® agent at your local Best Buy™ store for more information, as we are generally able to provide repairs for most products we carry. Please keep in mind however, that to obtain any kind of service under the manufacturer's warranty or third-party coverage (like a Best Buy Performance Service Plan, or "PSP" for short), you would need to provide either a copy of your original store receipt or PSP brochure.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
