Question about Intel Desktop Board D845EPI Motherboard

1 Answer

I was given this board, had been used to monitor security cameras. I got it to run, set up xp on it. It had kind of a "jury rigged" video set up, so I cleaned all of that mess out. Now the pc won't come on. I believe there is still power to the board, as the green light on the board is lit. Everything is dead and I have no idea where to plug in the power and reset button switches to see if that is why it won't come on. Usually I am much more careful, but I was rushed and now I am lost.

First of, download this manual (click here), it's a pdf file, it'll open up on your browser (Internet explorer or you can read the contents on your computer, to open the file on your computer, you'll need a pdf reader, if you haven't already installed a pdf reader, click here to download Adobe Reader) open the manual and scroll down to Page No. 33, there, you'll see some labelled connectors, "C" is the front panel connector where you are going to plug in the power switch, reset switch etc... Note the number 1-9 and refer the connections on Page No. 35, it should connect like this :
I was given this board, - nonontech_6.jpg

Upper : PLED = Power Led and PWR + GND = power switch
Bottom : HDLED = Hard Disk Led and Ground+Reset=Reset switch

You also need to note that there are two Power Connectors (from SMPS), one with 4 pins/plugs and another 20 pins/plugs. Both of them should be connected, otherwise it'll never boot up even though all other connections are correct and all other components are working.

Let me know if you have problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Pfaff 90 sewing machine bobbin case not secure needle breaks when sewing ?? Hard to explain, how do I fix?

If the case is not secure then (obviously) that is the problem. Try finding out what holds it in place, and replace that section. Or, if it is some kind of retainer that is worn (and cannot be replaced), think really hard on how to make it stay in place (i.e. ''jury rig'').

Oldsmobile headlight headache.

Need a shop to figure out the real problem there
& then give you some options for a proper repair

Without the car, wiring diagrams & some diagnostic time,
that question can't be answered. Have to know the system
you need fixed

It will not stay on

Hi,

Try the steps given below:
1 Remove the memory card, then install the new batteries, when you turn it on it should work.
2 The next thing to try is examining both the battery and flash card door. There's usually a little switch on both doors that activates when the doors are closed. It will be a little piece of plastic on the door that pushes in on a pin switch when the door is closed. Closely examine both doors to try to identify these switches. A lot of times that little plastic nib wears down or breaks off, but can easily be a jury rigged with a small glued-on replacement.

If you still face the problem then there is some internal problem in camera, you need to take to service center to get it repaired.

Hope this helps.

HP a1600n desktop will turn on but will not boot. Does not run thru BIOS, keys/mouse check. HDD spins up, CDROM goes thru check then just sits. Monitor doesn't kick in because doesn't get to video check. ...

you can try buying a cheap pci express video card and install it inside one of those slots and connect your monitor to the new video card and see if it will boot up. some computers have a beeping sound if something is wrong. if theres no beep then try to remove everything like memory and hard drives and just leave the power supply. if it still doesnt beep when you restart the computer, then it might be the motherboard.

Camera does not turn on

Yes there is, but it's tiny, soldered to the main circuit board, and buried deep inside the camera. But there's two other things you should first check. There's a tiny switch on both the SD card door and the battery door. These switches are closed by small plastic protrusions on the doors as they are closed. These little plastic pieces can sometimes wear down or break off. If so, you'd need to jury-rig something to make sure both switches are closed.

Viviteck 3x optical zoom, battery door does not close

I got an estimate of $125 to fix the Coolpix 7900 door, and the camera probably isn't worth that much. So I looked more closely at the camera to create a jury rig fix. As I never use a tripod with the camera, I thought about using the threaded tripod mount. I found a very short 1/4 inch thread screw in my garage and cut a thin metal strip to about 2 1/4" x 1/2". I then drilled a 1/4" hole at one end of the strip, laid the strip across the door and tightened the screw through the 1/4" hole and into the tripod mount. The door is now secure. To remove the battery, I simply loosen the screw a little with a dime and pivot the metal strip out of the way. There are many variations that can be done similarly such as using a plastic strip and a plastic 1/4" bolt or even a shorter strip that just covers the door.
