Agree, this is a very tricky operation! Lie the machine down on its side - you still can't see properly, but it is easier that way. Be sure you are using the correct end of the grey plastic thing. One end is marked In and the other Out (or words something like that - I;m away from my machine right now and can't check). If the bulb is not staying in, then it is not in correctly and you just have to keep trying. As a last resort, take the machine to a repair shop and ask them to teach you how to do it. Believe me, I share your frustration. I don't think Husqvarna could have made changing the light bulb any more difficult if they had tried!

Accessing timing rod on singer 7469

That is not a timing issue--it is a needle height issue. Make sure that your needle is all the way up in the clamp, and the flat part of the needle is away from you.

You can determine if it's all the way up by looking right above the needle clamp. You will see what looks like a grey post. It serves as the stop for the end of the needle, and should be right under it.

Also, I need that you don't have a wing-type needle clamp screw. That means that hand-tightening is not enough to keep the needle in position. After you have tightened it with your fingers, you must use a straight-blade screwdriver to tighten it enough to keep the needle in position during sewing.

How to remove light bulb cover Viking #1+

look on the left side of the machine and see if you see a little round plastic circle, very very carefully use a screw driver to pry it out , there should be a screw to unscrew and the side should come off so you can replace the bulb. if you will send me a comment with the complete name and model number, I'll see if I can find you a manual.

I have a Pfaff 4.2 Quilt Expression. I am free motion quilting and the bobbin thread keeps hanging up. Any suggestions?

1. The top loading bobbin cases have small brackets to keep them from turning or moving up or down.
2. Adjust brackets with small screwdriver. Allow enough room for thread to flow through.
3. Rotate hand wheel both directions to make sure the bobbin case doesn't move around. Also, watch the thread to see if it is flowing across the top of the bobbin case.
4. You may need to slow down movement of your "free motion". Also, make sure you are using the right pressure foot.

I cant get my needle position to move to the left or the right

The long arm is attached to the needle arm.
1. Move the needle arm right and left with your finger. Is there any resistance? There should be. If not, a spring that is supposed to be attached to the long gray rod has came loose.
2. The spring will be attached so it pulls towards the round cogs (bumpy things).
3. Mechanical sewing machines are very similar. There is a possibility that your adjustment lever has screws came loose.
4. By moving the needle arm back and forth you can monitor what is going on to get a clue of what may be wrong.

My Janome Memory Craft 4800 is skipping stitches. I've cleaned the bobbin race, replaced the needle and re-threaded both top and bobbin. Any suggestions? it also feels as if the thread is getting caught on...

Hello,

Here are some things to check.

* Thread tension is too tight.
* Needle is bent or blunt.
* Needle is wrong size.
* Needle and thread does not match.
* Light pressure on presser foot.
* Incorrect setting of needle.

I hope this helps you.

My pfaff hobbymatic has stopped doing zigzag and the needle is stuck on the right hand side

Check your needle position selector, it must be selected to the right position for special application. Default must be in the center position. If it doesn't want to center itself when straight stitch is selected then I would thing a link inside came loose and a repair person should assess your problem specially if having no experience working on them.

Needle position jammed?

First make sure you are using a needle that is recommended by your model. Secondly make sure the needle is inserted correctly. The flat side of the needle needs to be against the flat bar that makes the needle go up and down. After this, unplug the power supply and let it set for a couple of minutes. This gives the computer time to re-set itself.
Hope these suggestions work!

Only sews a straight stitch

NEEDLE BAR HEIGHT
With the pattern selector dial set at maximum zigzag width and when the point of the rotary hook exactly meets the right side of the needle in ascending travel of the needle bar from its lowest position, at the right needle drop position, the distance between the upper edge of the needle eye and the race of the rotary hook should be 3.3 ± 0.3 mm.

You also need to look at the timing

HOOK TIMING
With the needle bar swung to the right at the maximum zigzag width, the amount of ascending travel of the needle bar from its lower position to the position where the tip of the rotary hook exactly meets the right side of the needle should be 1.7 ± 0.3 mm.
